Universal Studios Japan unveiled its inaugural Christmas in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Osaka this week, where a massive Christmas tree was lit up in the middle of Hogsmeade village to celebrate its run, now through the beginning of January.

SnitchSeeker correspondent Kim was in Osaka for the launch on Thursday and took a few videos of the very festive town of Hogsmeade right here.

The Christmas season has arrived at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™ at Universal Studios Japan. Each shop in Hogsmeade™ is adorned with elaborate ornaments and wreaths. Red, green, and gold decorations complement the snow-capped roofs, and the soft warm glow emanating from the magnificent Hogwarts™ castle sets the mood for the holiday season. A magical Christmas Tree, also stands tall in the heart of Hogsmeade. Ornaments that hang from the Hogsmeade Christmas Tree, dance and light up with the flick of a wand and the cast of different spells.

Actress and Harry Potter fan Suzu Hirose kicked off Christmas in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter earlier today (Thursday, November 17) at the opening ceremony. Hirose and other special guests gasped in joy as they discovered Hogsmeade had been transformed for the Christmas season.

At the ceremony, Suzu Hirose appeared wearing a Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry robe and Gryffindor House scarf. When she, along with a group of lucky Harry Potter fans, cast the spell “Lumos Maxima” on the Hogsmeade Christmas Tree it suddenly lit up. The shops with snow-capped rooftops also illuminated one after another, leaving a warm glow on the wreathes and ornaments that decorate Hogsmeade Village. Snow fell under the night sky and the area around the Hogsmeade Christmas Tree was immersed in the winter scenery of Christmas.

“The Hogsmeade Christmas Tree is beautiful and like nothing I’ve ever seen before. I really soaked up the atmosphere of the Harry Potter world here. The wizarding world has shown a different face like never before.” Suzu said with excitement.

The following comments are from guests who experienced this fantastic moment along with Suzu Hirose: “I was moved and almost cried when I saw Hogsmeade village light up by the magic. We can experience such Christmas only in The Wizarding world of Harry Potter.” (a girl from Hyogo) “I felt we were in a movie scene. It was a memorable time.”(a family from Osaka) “The tree suddenly lit up and then the entire village illuminated beautifully. This is a different experience from summer!” (a family from Osaka) They commented with excitement for the special event that guests can enjoy only during this winter period.

As a winter-only delight, ever-popular hot Butterbeer ™ will be served at Three Broomsticks™. Butterbeer, a non-alcoholic beverage the whole family can enjoy, appears in the Harry Potter movies. Showing off their Butterbeer mustaches is very popular among guests.

Three Broomsticks is also serving a scrumptious Christmas Feast, which includes roast chicken, chipolata sausages, roasted potatoes, garden salad, and steamed vegetables, that can be shared with family and friends.
