| | | UK HBP: 608 pages Bloomsbury, the British publishers of the HP books, have confirmed that the British edition of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince will be 608 pages long. It was previously announced that the US edition would be 672 pages long.
Recently a form emerged indicating that the 6th book would be 608 pages long. Bloomsbury have now confirmed this information as 100% authentic.
The UK editions of GoF and OotP contained 636 and 766 pages. NOTE: The page length differs because the US version has chapter illustrations and the font is slightly larger than in the UK version which means the words to page ratio is fewer in the US editions.
Thanks to Potterish for the form.

WHOA @ the extra pages WE gotta read. *shakin head* I've never been so impatient in my life waiting for a book to be released. This is like when you're 8 and it's 6:30 Christmas morning and your mom told you the night before you can't open your presents until 9! *UUUUGGGGHHHHH*

Because of the images and because the font is also larger. The UK copies don't have illustrations whereas you get the Mary Grandpre ones.
But I did sort of say that in the article, if you read it.

608 pages... a little disappointing, I wanted it to beat OotP... but I suppose it's ridiculous that I'm referring to 608 pages as "short"! I guess we HP fans are used to JK's high standards and large page numbers...
Well, it's quality not quantity that counts, so I can't wait!

But loads of pages doesn't necessarily mean high standards. Quality over quantity.
Besides we already knew it was shorter due to the release of the US figures.

^ I already explained that. Please read the thread before asking questions. It's because of the illustrations and font sizes.
And dagger, it doesn't mean we get any less of the novel to read. It just means we don't get illustrations at the beginning of chapters, which we've never done, so it's no loss.

I think you quoted the wrong person
I just loathe the irony. Potter fans who read books and yet who can't read news articles. Jo Rowling would be so ashamed.

I wasn't aware that the UK editions didn't have the illustrations. I have been wanting to read the UK editions because I want to see how it is was initially worded by JK, even using terms not customary here in the states. But I happen to enjoy the little chapter pictures, even though its hard to put the book down when I really need to because I see the little pic and am curious to what it could mean.
By the way does anyone know where I might come across and purchase the UK editons here in the states without having to ship overseas?

Excellent, knowing now how long the book is going to be and assuming the covers follow the same standard as the other Bloomsbury hardbacks, I can now plan EXACTLY which bag I'll need on that day, and where it'll fit on my shelves! (actually, when it comes to bags, it'll be a big'un regardless- for OotP, I bought a load of provisions (otherwise known as 'crisps and biscuits') and sat out in the garden all day reading it until it got cold.)
