| | | TLC GoF Set Report Preview
Back in November 2004, staff from The Leaky Cauldron and Mugglenet, amongst other internet reporters, visited the sets from the fourth film 'Goblet of Fire' at Leavesden Studios.
They too have now posted the preview to their report which can be read here. Quote:
Witches and wizards in their dowdiest Muggle clothing run screaming down muddied paths, their bloomers flapping on clotheslines while their flags burn in the wind. Harry ducks and rolls in the mud, nearly trampled by the frenzied mob, and then is swallowed by the crowd. Elsewhere, a spiked cage sits in the center of a round, columned chamber choked with paperwork and the musty feel of old courtrooms. A 30-foot, horned dragon haunches in wait. The Great Hall sparkles for the Ball, the Death Eaters are prowling in dark, pointed hoods and skeletal masks, the contingents from France and Bulgaria have made stunning entrances, Rita is buzzing, hormones are swinging, and at the mouth of a towering hedge maze, a hero screams over a young man's dead body.
Quote:
The much-acclaimed internal drama of Prisoner of Azkaban has been supplanted with an external grandeur that expresses itself in a blaze of spectacles and terrors with a very political edge. Things have been cut, as we have expected them to be; those who were angry at Cuaron for slicing from Azkaban are going to have to try and come to peace now with the fact that there are even heavier cuts here - it had to be done.

Well that's understandable. We have to look at these films as translations of media - we can't keep everything (*cries* Pigwidgeon! Peeves! Waah!). It's obvious that there's a lot of effort being poured into this film... I can't wait to see it... If they have to cut some things to make it a better cinematic creation, so be it.

To be fair, a longer film would take longer to shoot, therefore delaying the release date and also increasing the possibility that the kids would be too old to return for another film.
Face it, cuts have to be made, not everything is important and it takes a true film-maker to be able to tell such a story in a compact space of time - Mike Newell has the talent to do that, so no-one need worry.

^ Yeah, agreed.
Although I didn't like that Alfonso cut so much, I still think it is my favourite of the three. If this one is anything like the last, I'll be a happy fan.

Marchella, the first thing you quoted sounded like the preview of the film. I dont mind too much about cutting things from the movie, but as long as they dont miss out on the major points and as long as the movie flows then im happy.

the first part sounds all mysterious, vry cool.
it;s obvious they're gonna cut parts. it's no one's fault. who'd want to sit through a 5 hour movie?? as long as they put the most important parts of the story.
