Post The Pope outsells Potter in Poland

The late pope John Paul's last book ('Conversations at the Dawn of a Millennium') has become the all-time bestseller in his native Poland, eclipsing the previous record-holder 'Order of the Phoenix', according to Entertainment Canada.

"The initial print run of 600,000 copies of the pope's fifth and final book, 'Memory and Identity' has sold out and publisher Znak said it has an order for another 500,000 copies.

Even just counting initial copies sold, the pope's book has beaten out the fifth instalment of the popular Harry Potter series, which has sold 460,000 copies. Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code is in third place with 450,000 copies sold."

You know what?? I was just crying when Pope died. I don;t kniow why I'm catholical and so on, but when Pope was living it was obviuos to me that he is somewhere and now I realised that he's gone.... And he was so inteligent. I was always very sad when he was on TV and when I saw that he's so weak and ill. That was terrible... I don't know he was such a good man....
And about HP we - Polish people - are also intrested in HP!!! There are a lot of fans of Rowling's books. But now when Pope is gone eveyone seems to talk only about him... and when he died we also had national mourning... And he was polish man.... that's why we so into him

People- what do you all know? Jeez- has anyone of you watched the burial of the Pope??? did you guys see how many people came? Pope John Paul II, or rather as I call him, Karol Wojtyla, is a man of great strength and determination. He was the first non- italian pope, and he was the first pope to travel that much, as he did. His ability to bring so many people together, whether they are catholics or not, is really amazing. The popes before him were not able to do that- He did what is best for his people. I doubt that before him anyone knew were Poland was... Anyway, he was the one who helped the polish people to bring down the communists in Poland, peacefully. He helped Solidarity to become the fighting force. He lost his whole family- first his baby sister, then his mother, later his older brother, and finally his father. I wouldn't be surprised if HBP DID NOT beat Karol Wojtyla's record, after all's he's done for us all. For the record: After i found out that the following pope was the german guy, I got really ******, cause i can't forgive the germans for what they had done to us... there are people still suffering from the lost of friends and family, adn even if the german guy can say sorry... i doubt any one of them will forgive him that fast. I myself have plenty of books about Karol Wojtyla- books of his collections, his biography... i even have his poems- but on my mirror sits two pictures of him in his papal clothes. A great man he was... a father to our country. What he has done for us, in Poland, will probably be remembered longer than any of the Harry Potter books. The sales of the books don't really matter, in fact... It's what they have done- Karol Wojtyla has done alot more, than Harry Potter with a wand in a book.

Go ahead think all you want... but that's just plain common sense, that I'm using. Most of you by the time you get to college, actually by the time JKR finishes he last installment of the book, and you all read it... you will most likely forget about Harry Potter... but I doubt anyone here will forget the pope after what he has done (if any of you know).
