Several small fires were started yesterday by the Hogwarts Express as it steamed away down the York to Scarborough line. There was very little damage this time, unlike the last time it caused a small amount of chaos as the set and more than 100 acres of Heath Land was set alight.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said a faulty cinder box had meant red hot cinders were spilling out on to the bone dry trackside.
Several of the smouldering cinders ignited railway sleepers, causing two small fires at Strensall, two at Norton, two at Rillington, near Malton, and a further three at nearby Scagglethorpe.
There were no injuries and the train itself is fine.
