The Baltimore Sun has an interesting piece on Severus Snape, mainly discussing the character’s popularity, fate and moral ambiguity. The article also includes a list of ‘Five reasons to believe Snape is good (if not nice)’, as well as author Salman Rushdie’s theory regarding Snape. Quote:
"Severus Snape" on Google returns more than a half-million hits. A single blog-hosting site - LiveJournal.com - counts 390 communities and more than 400 users listing him as an interest, roughly the same number that list Harry Potter. He has songs written in his honor. YouTube videos. A monthly podcast. MySpace pages, for heaven's sake ("Severus Snape has 3,370 friends").
Even the bookstore chain Borders has chosen an all-Snape method of marketing Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, including the choice of pro- or anti-Snape bumper stickers when you reserve the book. (Pro is winning.)

I'm goin with Snape's good. He just had to kill Dumbledore because after he told Dumbledore about the Unbreakable Vow, Dumbledore said he must do it to remain nice with the Death Eaters. That's just what I think.

The jury remains out on Severus Snape, that's for sure! His is definately a character that draws one to its ambiquity and complexity and Alan Rickman beautifully adds to his mystique. No other character in the HP series keeps you guessing like Severus Snape!

Snape is interesting because you really cannot tell what he thinks or is ... I wouldn´t accept such a person to be my bf, having been a DE and all, but he is my favourite HP-character and I love him. I guess we are "just friends" I mean I would have killed my boyfriend if he had joined the Death Eaters  To a friend I would have only screamed: "You´re not wise!"
