ok i have read the 1st page loads of time......but what do you do if the door doesn't even open though the sign is gone??.....anybody else have this problem?......we can only find the secret light switch only when the door is open right?.....and then follows the dart board and safe....... but i can't get the door to open!!!!!

First of all who says this person has to be alive? Death means nothing - it could be someone in the past quite easily, therefore a flashback.

Secondly, it's probably not a clue at all - merely a segment taken from the removed part of CoS given to tease us. She's only half-way through HBP, according to her and I don't believe she'd release anymore info on it, in this form, she said she wouldn't release anymore info about the actual prince, therefore this can't be the prince as seen in the next book HBP.

Here are the character traits and who they could symbolise;

Mane - This cannot be Ginny, from what it says, this person is definitely male. Mane seems to represent lion, therefore Godric is the obvious possibility. Some have also suggested Firenze but mane is figurative, descriptive, not literal.

Yellow eyes - this seems to remind me of a snake, a relation or a reference to Slytherin?

The wire-rimmed glasses - McGonagall is knocked out because she's female. Harry has these glasses, but doesn't fit all other descriptions. Dumbledore, however, does. We do not know about Godric on this score.

grey - it suggests he is greying therefore he's not completely grey. Considering Dumbledore is knocking 150, if not more, and granted that this is in the past, he would have started greying even at the age of 40-50. It also suggests someone older, this cannot be Harry, but could possibly again be Godric.

tawny hair - this represents hair colour, in which case either Dumbledore or Godric could be it again. It also suggests owls, it's a type of owl and well, the animal symbolism is rife in this sentence and so 'tawny' simply cant be a coincidence. But owl images don't seem to fit in with Dumbledore or Godric, perhaps another founder?

bushy eyebrows - again suggests owls but also suggests further more that they're male. some could say Hermione has bushy eyebrows but that's going too far.

rangy - means long, slender arms, thin. Dumbledore aways appears to tower above everyone, there's a reference to that in PoA when Sirius breaks in. Worryingly, Voldemort is also described this way. Again, with Godric, we know nothing of his figure.

Mc Claggan - we can't say ANYTHING on him, because all we know is his name. To try and base theories on just a name is quite hard, especially since the only thing that's obvious about it, is that it's scottish. I know there is a weak link from the Scots to birds and the founder of the Claws seems to bee Scottish. Other than that, we have no idea at all about him, so any theories surrounding him are pure guess work.

Guys, if you have a question on how to get past the door, go to the first post. It has been answered. If you still can't get it, we really can't help you :/ and there is little use of cluttering up this thread more when the question has already been answer many times.

Another thing I'd like to add to the discussion is, as Marcella said, it is probably jsut an except from HBP. And the fact that the thing says, he had a mane like a lion, does not make that person a lion, in fact to me it seems like a decoy.

Dunno about McClaggin, that is pretty plausible. Because she mentions the new McClaggin character, and then suddenly she is posting this info, almost as though to tell us who it is? But the way she said it, that screws up my other theories that it is likely our new DADA teacher.

For those who can get in the door, I suggest trying the following. Delete your "Cookies". To do this while using Internet Explorer, go to the "Tools" at the top of your screen, then go to the "Internet Options" In here there will be a button that says "Delete Cookies" click on this. Then go back to JKR's site and see if the door will now open for you.

OMG Reign you are a saint! Follow the screen shots and you're good to go. I think the short paragraph is describing Aberforth, but I guess we'll have to wait to see.
