Article:

Christopher Paolini's debut fantasy novel Eragon is now outselling Harry Potter at stores. This time last year, however, the author was still sitting around his parents' farmhouse along Montana's Yellowstone river, where he grew up, never went to school and never held a job.

From The Telegraph:

But now, thanks to Eragon, his 500-page rousing adventure story set in his imaginary world, young Christopher is suddenly rich.

The British edition appears early next month, but already it is a huge bestseller in America, where it has surged past the Harry Potter books. Almost half a million copies were sold in only two months, a screenplay is in the works and at least a dozen foreign-language editions are on the way.

Giggling like a little boy, Christopher says: "Dragons make perfect friends. They can eat anyone you don't like."

"I was only 15 when I started Eragon. I didn't know how to write. I just told everything in one gigantic burst, then spent another year revising it. My parents read it and thought it was great. But I didn't really trust their opinion. After all, they're my parents. I wasn't surprised they liked it."

His mother points to the faded sofa in the living room. "He wrote the book sitting right there," she notes, with a grin of satisfaction.

My friend J gave me the book to read. I havent really got a chance to read more than a little section of it but it seems really good I suppose not really my exact taste in books but okay as books go. I was just impressed with the boy being 15 when he wrote the book( it says so on the inside back cover).
The books may be selling as good or better as Poter One's because of the Potter books. After all Hp did get a lot more kids to read (and read what -fantasy!).

Eragon was an Extraordinary book . We read it for a book club at my school. It is the first in a trilogy. It is about a boy that finds a dragon egg and it describes how they come closer together throughout the story. The next book is called: Eldest. I don't know when it will come out, but I hope that it is soon. It is a fantasy book and Chris seemed to become a more accomplished writer as the book went on, but I definately recomend it.

This book is the best ever. I read it like in 2 dayz. I cant wait till the next book call Eldest Inheritance 2 comes out. The only thing i can say is the end it leaves u hangin. But other wise everyone stop where u are and go straight to the book store to buy your copy right now. Especially as a good Christmas present. It is very suspensful. I couldnt put it down. The dragon is my fav character. Who thought u could have a dragon as your protector, friend, and companion all in one. Christopher Paolini did a great job of out selling HArry Potter. I couldnt believe it until i read the book. But now im convinced. It's as good as Harry Potter. So go and buy it right now. Or else. LOL

It is just as good as Harry Potter. It was only single plot though.

When was it published?, and what is the editorial house?. I'd never heard of it, but books are really not news around here, unless it has something to do with HP or LoTR. Sounds interesting, and i'm always thirsty for new reading material, and if HP fans recomend it it must be *really* good.

I'm in the middle of Eragon right now! My hubby heard about it from his boss, thoguht I'd like it, and got it for me for Christmas. I started it yeaterday and am already 1/2 way through! If you like Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings, you will like Eragon. It's a great book! Almost like a blend of HP & LotR. Excellently written to! I do have to say one thing against the article above. The author did not sit at home, not going to school. He was homeschooled and graduated from highschool at 15! I watched an interview of him on tv and he seems to be a very smart young man. Sorry, just had to mention that - he DID go to school! And again, the book is GREAT!
