| | | Tales of Beedle the Bard reviews (UPDATED) The Tales of Beedle the Bard went on sale today and as such reviews of the book are slowly emerging online. This story will be periodically updated as more roll in. The Guardian has a live blog commentary with the reviewer commenting as they read. Quote:
It's all done, by the way, in the slightly irritating format of "this book was discovered and has been translated by Hermione and it is all real real real" - but then I imagine lots of the Potter fans probably believe it is real, so fair play.
The Telegraph: Quote:
This short collection would be unremarkable were it not for the body of work that lies behind it. There is an element of padding to make it a respectable length and it will barely satisfy the Potter fanatics for more than half-an-hour. Still there are some nice touches and all profits go to charity, which fits with the generous impulse of the stories.
The book can be ordered via the following links:
Amazon: Collector's Edition & Standard Edition.
Amazon.co.uk: Collector's Edition & Standard Edition UPDATE: More reviews can be found at the links below; The Times Online: Quote:
I can only think of three authors who are genuine creators of new fairytales : Joan Aiken, Tolkien and E. Nesbit. Rowling is the fourth, blending the comic with the gorgeously grotesque and adding her own delicate line drawings. Dumbledore contributes scholarly notes satirising the popular belief that the “horrid subjects” of fairy-tales are dangerous to innocence.
Quote:
All of these tales - funny, sinister, wise and captivating – could have come new-minted from the Brothers Grimm.
Quote:
The pared-down language is tinged with antiquity but never patronises. Her gift for finding the perfect name, and the unexpected twist is undimmed. Like Charles Dickens, Rowling has given us a perfect Christmas treat – ideal to slip in any stocking.
USA Today: Quote:
Rowling's fairy tales are more Grimm than Disney — in a good way. (Parents be warned: "The Warlock's Hairy Heart" is great but terrifying.)
Potter fanatics will scour the book for clues and references. But many readers will most cherish this chance to visit with Dumbledore once more.

I got it this afternoon and I love it. Especially how Professor Dumbledore and Hermione explain things. It's a MUST HAVE for your Harry Potter collection!

Well, there are only 100,000 copies of that version. Your best bet is to email
Amazon and enquire as to how many of them have sold already.
