| | | Student makes her own predictions on HBP - Predictions on Half-Blood Prince Summary:
A college student has posted her own predictions on the sixth installment in the Harry Potter series, The Half-Blood Prince. Article: The Hamilton College Spectator have an article about a college student has posted her own predictions on the sixth installment in the Harry Potter series, The Half-Blood Prince. Quote: There are two characters who will gain importance in the sixth book and they are Professor Snape and Neville Longbottom. Since the very first book, Harry, Ron and Hermione have been suspicious of Snape, yet time and time again Dumbledore has defended him. Quote: "I think in the sixth book we will finally learn why Dumbledore trusts Snape so unconditionally. Clearly there is an event in the past that gave Dumbledore complete faith in this former Death Eater, and I believe Book 6 is when we will find out why. My own personal guess is that somehow Snape saved Dumbledore's life or protected him in some way at a time of vulnerability. I don't know about the validity of my prediction, but if Harry and his friends are to successfully fight against the dark arts, they are going to need to know why a former Death Eater is now considered a friend". Quote: I also believe Neville will become a more important character now that we have learned that it was possible that he could have been Voldemort's arch-enemy instead of Harry. Neville also began to prove himself in the fifth book. He masters skills in the secret defense against the dark arts club, and also has success in fighting off the death eaters in the last battle scene of Book 5. I think it is safe to say that Neville will only prove to be an even better wizard in the next two books, and we will also learn even more about his past now that Harry knows about Neville's parents.
As for the half-blood prince, it's hard to say who that could be. Rowling always comes up with great twists and surprises, and I hesitate to make any statement on who I think the half blood prince is, but I will list a few contenders. Hagrid and Professor Lupin are clear possibilities since we know that Hagrid is half giant, and Lupin is a werewolf. Godric Gryffindor could also be the half-blood prince since we know he was a very powerful wizard who was not prejudiced against muggle born witches and wizards. Educated informed guess which is probably accurate but very vague - she gives no real solid detailed predictions like the editorial sleuths at Mugglenet.

Though I think some of it is logical based facts ...

I dont think Snape saved Dumbledore's life--he would have mentioned it. But I do agree that Neville is becoming more confident as a wizard and will improve more in the coming books.

Though I think some of it is logical based facts ... I agree, you dont need a fine-picked book analysis to figure that out. Just look at the basic facts and you could conclude that.

| These are some facts that most of us have figured out ourselves. Its just sort of common knowledge with a bit of opinion. So i hope that she doesnt plan to become something like the next Mystic Meg cause i dont think she'll go very far. Well unless she is willing to be a total fraud that makes up stuff on the obvious and rips everyone off, Cause then i'll have a little competition!

| Moo Spork? SPORKY SPORKY!!
She's got some interesting ideas. I honestly think that both Snape and Neville will have much bigger roles to play now! (I thought Neville was the HBP for a while... ) I can't wait to find out for myself!!

ooh those were very good predictions (even though i only read the quotes im reading the full story now...) and i wonder how she'd feel (and the rest of us) if some (or all) were true! (well we'd be ecstatic as well if we though we figured out JKR, but as usual we'll prolly underestimate the amount of twists...) but i think its cool that this got published online even though there are other sites like SS and mugglenet w/theories. i do agree with the part about snape becoming their friend since he used to be a DE... wonder what JKR has come up with... sigh.

oh my gosh... i totally guessed the same thing about Neville. I think that now he has proved himself capable of fighting he will be a fairly big part in the final battle (maybe lol)...
Good guess about Snape. For all we know it could be true... but i agree that something would have happened in the past to prove Snape's loyalty to Dumbledore... oh well (sigh) we'll just have to wait and see (tear) lol

This may sound a little rude but everyone has sort of already established most of that. It's not like we haven't guessed it already. You only have to look the flourish and blotts link to see all that already Quote:

Well, its her opinion. at least we have lots of leads. plus, if it they did come true, she has an archive of it to prove it.

I think the Snape and Neville part makes sense... However, I'm not sure if that will actually come in the books... Since Neville has already shown great courage and that he is good with magic..
And Snape doesnt actually had to save Dumbledore.. The thing is, Dumbledore trusted Hagrid all along.. And Hagrid didnt need to prove himself to him.. So, that's why I'm not sure about that part.
Sure, it would be awesome to know! hehe

She has quite ome good logic. In fact I thought about it as well. Neville might prove himself to be a better wizard. I thought about Hagrid and Lupin as well but not Godric Gryffindor.

A couple of ideas that have poped into my feeble head:
1) Is there a chance that Neville's near progeny of Herbology could lead him to cure his parents?
2) In GoF (I just happen to reread this part this am) Voldemort refers to one DE that has left and will be killed. Is this Snape? Does Voldemort know that Snape is working for the Order? The only mention of DE's not at the circle are the Lestrange's, Barty Crouch Jr., and one who has denounced Voldemort and will also be killed.
3) What is the significance of the gum wrappers given to Neville by his mom? (I know, not very original)
4) Lastly, as Neville gets more proficient with his magic (except potions), I think it will have to be a combo of Harry and Neville that takes out Voldemort. It could have been either in the prophecy, could it be both?
I just don't know, but I love trying to figure it out!

Talking about Half-Blood Prince from the Speculations...
I like the idea of Prof. Lupin being the Half-blood prince... I also liked Godric Gryffindor being the half-blood prince, which can be very realistic since Gryffindor is a very powerful wizard back then... But the fact that he's already dead makes it go down the drain... Anyways, still rooting for Prof. Lupin though... |
