Not in Spain it isn't. I'd imagine there's the concern that people might get confused if it's titled differently to the book.

yeah, i really dont think anyone will have one bit of trouble matching the book to the film. Each book and now movie was so eagerly anticipated that no one should get confused.

In danish Harry Potter and the halfblood prince is called "Harry Potter og Halvblodsprinsen".

Hi!!! Let's see, I've read the book in English and Spanish, and the reason for the change of the title was that the pun didn't make a lot of sense in Spanish as it did in English with the you-know-who's surname (not Voldemort, I'm just trying to avoid spoilers ). That's why the translator changed it for a quite good version of one of the meanings in English. The thing is that the translation ("Harry Potter y el Misterio del Príncipe" is HP & the Prince Mystery or HP & the Mystery of the Prince) is a (I think) very suitable way of expressing it without the title losing it's charm, because if it had been translated as "Príncipe mestizo" (Half-blood Prince) it would have only refeared to the fact that he is half-wizard, half-muggle but nothing to do with his surname. So "the mystery of the Prince", I think leaves way for both meanings but there's just no pun. Sometimes you have to do these things when you translate. I know it's a pity but...

I think it's odd that they didn't keep the translation as direct as possible in the first place. But, since they changed it for the book, it should be the same for the movie.

i think the new title fits the theme of the story better. using "Mestizo" is too literal anyway.
