As you know … I’ve been extremely lucky with being able to go to the European Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix premiere in London’s Leicester Square. This meant an awful lot of squealing, begging (to parents), a long time spent travelling, a few minutes completely lost, another moment or two thinking, ‘Oh. My. Gosh …’ Then … after figuring out where we’re meant to go first (hey, come on, there are four huge cinema’s in Leicester Square, complete with around several hundred screaming fan girls - and boys - with crews swarming everywhere (not an easy job) …

My good friend Amy-Lee and I are taken into the press screening of Order of the Phoenix. Let me tell you, this movie is by far the best. It took a long time to get everyone settled, searched and briefed on which screen we shall be going into; we finally got into it. It is well worth the 2 hours and 20 minutes it runs for.

After coming out of the film, me and Amy have to get our bags back from security, they’re tight there, and no one got anywhere without your name on a list and a pass. (Imagine the squealing we submitted the security staff to when we we’re allowed in, I think they’ll get their hearing back soon …) However, by now, two 17-year-old girls are nothing compared to the hype going on outside the cinema! The screaming is very loud, and the chant of ‘Harry! Harry! Harry!’ Can be heard once in a while, with speakers announcing quotes from the film to keep the crowd charged. This works! Now we’re out the first cinema, we have to make our way to the second cinema of the day to collect our press passes.

However, we didn’t expect this to be a battle to fight through construction guys, excited tourists, and press everywhere! We make it, however, and once we get our shiny little black card on a cord, we get to flash this to the security guards surrounding the entrances to the “press pens.” This earns us completely amazed, horrified and jealous scowls from the fan girls and, once we have yet another bag search and security check, we’re allowed to make our way into the circle in the middle of Leicester Square that’s reserved for the press.

After setting up, we watch the TV channels proceed to pump up the crowd, and wait for 45 minutes before the screaming increases again. They’re here.

First to come into the press area is Tom Felton, who is followed by Emma Watson and then Rupert Grint. Soon enough, Daniel Radcliffe makes an appearance, and before long we’re getting interviews with all four of them. Along with …
