| | |  Slovenian Deathly Hallows translator replaced
You may recall a couple months ago we told you that Slovenian Harry Potter fans were up in arms about the poor translation of Half-Blood Prince due to a sudden switch in translators and their concerns that the same translator (who hadn’t even read any of the previous five books) had been hired to do Deathly Hallows.
In an effort to return the job to the previous translator, HarryPotterSlovenia appealed to the international Harry Potter online community for help, including SnitchSeeker.com.
We are happy to bring you the following update on the situation: Quote:
More than thirty web pages have written about our cause. We sent our arguments to Ms. Rowling and her literary agency, and asked them to intervene on behalf of Slovenian readers.
On Friday the 13th we finally got some really great news:
It has been officially announced that the Christopher Little Literary Agency gave the publishing rights for the final book to 'Mladinska knjiga,' which is very reliable publishing company, the largest one in Slovenia. And our wishes came true! The editors at 'Mladinska knjiga' decided that Deathly Hallows would be translated by Jakob Kenda, the translator of the first five books. We are very happy about this resolution! Hopefully, he will translate the sixth book once again as well, so that the whole series will be complete some day.
The publication of the Slovenian translation is announced for 16 February 2008.
