* Short list of potential directors for films 5-7 - These guys were in talks for the job Summary:
These directors were in talks to direct Harry Potter at some point. Will the future Harry Potter films see any of these directing? Article:
This is an old article that I found while surfing looking for a quote by Spielberg on doing Harry Potter (way back when - before movie one was made): Quote: When Spielberg dropped out of this project, Warner Bros. started a "casting pool" process where directors could pitch their ideas for the film. Besides Columbus, the helmers in talks for the job at various points were: Terry Gilliam, Jonathan Demme, Mike Newell, Alan Parker, Wolfgang Petersen, Rob Reiner, Tim Robbins, Brad Silberling, and Peter Weir. Personally, I'd love to see Terry Gilliam do one! Yahoo! Movies UPDATE
And this article shows some of the same names: Quote: Among the would-be Potter helmers: Brad Silberling (City of Angels), Jonathan Demme (Silence of the Lambs), Chris Columbus (Bicentennial Man), Mike Newell (Pushing Tin), Rob Reiner (The Story of Us) and Tim Robbins (Cradle Will Rock). | Keeper of Mr Tennant's specs i think that Tim Burton would bee great to do a HP movie.
spelibeurg said he could do Harry Potter with his eyes closed and that is why he didnt do it.
Alan Rickman and Emma Thompson as a joint effert would be cool to.

yes i would love to see alfonso come back for the 5th movie but please leave mike newell ouy of the picture, hes already ruined the 4th movie why ruin another harry potter movie. all the other directors look good, but alfonso would be a good choice for the 5th because he did a dark image in the 3rd and since the 5th one is so dark,Alfonso would be perfect for that movie!!!! :sorcerer:

I heard somewhere that they are not goin to have to have the Dursleys in the fourth film...if that is right, then its a great shame!...but besides that Im sure the fourth film will be good...
I think that there are many interesting directors out there...
But Emma Thompson is still on my list on people who could/should replace Kloves...

i think tim robbins would be a good choice. i've seen his work and he's quite good. i think he would put an interesting perspective on one of the harry potter films. i also think jonathon demme would be a good choice for OotP. silence of the lambs was very good (though quite weird and scary) and i think he would make that film very dark and dramatic like it should be!

To the person that said that Alfonso's film was not meant for people under the age of 18, I dont know why you are making that assumption. I mean kids aged 5 have seen it and loved it and understood it. Besides POA is meant to be for kids it is meant to be for an older audience.

Thank you for saying 58 isn't getting on. The closer one gets to 50 the more you need to hear you're not heading over the hill just yet. I also think Alan Rickman would be a could choice as a director. It has also been commited that Chris Columbus might come back to direct the Order of the Phoenix.

Peter Jackson (who is going to start his King Kong movie) or Steven Spielberg could do an unforgettable job. | |

Hello there.
I don't know who will be the next director of the Globet of Fire, but I've heard that Alfonso Cuaron will be the dorector of The Orden of the Phoenix, I think it is only a rumor, but it will be great if he directs it. :sorcerer:

| Quote: Peter Jackson (who is going to start his King Kong movie) or Steven Spielberg could do an unforgettable job Steven Spieberg wanted to do the first movie, only as a computer animated film. So, after that, I'm not so fond of him directing it.
