| | | 'Secret' HBP plant in Germany The Sun *cough* are reporting that Forty guards — backed by CCTV cameras — have been brought in to scan production lines at a secret Potter plant in old East Germany.
They've also included a manipulated shot of 'Harry' holding the book. The picture used is one of the hi-res images that WB previously provided us with from the film ' Goblet of Fire'.
Source: The Sun EDIT: Contact Music, another brilliant and informative source, has run the same story except with a few more details. Quote:
According to reports, the Druckerei GGP works in Possneck is surrounded by a perimeter fence which is being kept secure by guards and close circuit cameras.
Staff are also searched when entering and leaving the compound - and have been banned from taking mobile phones and recording devices into the plant.
An employee says, "It feels like we are dealing with a manual on how to start a nuclear war instead of a children's book."
The Age also has a similar article which can be read in whole here. Quote:
A worker at the GGP printing works, near Jena in eastern Germany, said: "Since the contract came in we have all been photographed and have to walk around with these special badges on display at all times.
"Two guards are positioned permanently in the space dividing the book-binding department from the printing presses. It has stopped short of body searches so far, but who knows, they check everything else. There is even a guard on the giant shredders that destroy pages that have errors.
"The shredded stuff is guarded in a container, and guards ride shotgun on that container when it is driven away to be disposed of somewhere else.
"We heard that the British publishing house that gave our company the contract wrote a clause saying that we would be liable for something like EUR3 million ([roughly] $4.9 million [American]) if a single word of the new book leaked out before publication day.
Tape recorders have been banned too: management does not want workers to speak the words of the novel. Mobile telephones able to take pictures are also banned.

I read this article in the Sun Online. They said 'THE tightest security in publishing history is protecting the new Harry Potter book.' Cool, isn't it?

It's The Sun .... they previously printed a GoF article with something like 10+ mistakes in it.
The *cough* should therefore, tell you all you need to know There's a very good chance that this article, is total and absolute rubbish. Yes it may have a tiny shred of truth somewhere, but The Sun are very much a sensationlistic publication.

Can anyone say very very very bad picture editing?!?!?!
Could it be anymore obvious that their poor picture of Dan holding the HBP book is fake?!
My God! *considers whether to throw her laptop out the window cos of the unnecessary furstration* Grrr!
The Sun is so annoying when it prints stories!
I know, I know, it never prints anything that has more than 10% truth in it. Other wise how would they sell their papers?
But! Grrr! Anyone wanna sign a petition to give Sun journalists a big slap?
Only kidding Or am i? |

| Oh they crack me up! I like the stories they report, I'm always up for a good laugh. (Mind you I've only seen whats been posted here on SS) Like was already said, there may be some truth to the story, like you know, HBP is being printed in a plant somewhere....

they'd never let hbp be printed in another country than the uk(except for the american print of course) then there could happen something while they took them to the UK. I'd love to find out where the plant was though... |

A reliable source, indeed. However, I do not doubt that the HBP handling is being treated with utmost security. I do not believe that the Sun, of all media, will get the exclusive of the location of the operation.
But oh wel, all hail the most reliable newspaper in the world. |

| Not a very big article. You'd think it was written by a 5 year old. Oh wait lets re-phrase that. It probably was written by a 5 year old knowing the Sun's standards. So when they mention junior reporters people they acually mean it. Alright I'm talking crap now. But if you see any suspicious behavior in any 5 year old you know like they've taken an interest in page 3 girls and telling unconvincing lies, then it's likely they have been employed by the Sun. Let's see, they're crap at creating convincing article of a reasonable length and they haven't got a clue on how to manipulate graphics. No pictures either. Sigh! I suppose they help us tell the difference between the good and bad newspapers. And they're the bad, very bad. |

well, there are jerks out there that would mess around with early copies to profit from it.. though they'd get their butt thrown in jail for it..

It's funny how wrong the Sun can be! I'm sure the only truth in that is that HBP is being printed somewhere! If it was a secret location, how did they know about it and wouldn't Bloomsbury and Scholastic want it to remain a secret to prevent what happened last time!?
