In an interview about his new film Cashback, HP actor Sean Biggerstaff (Oliver Wood) talks a bit about his early days in the first Harry Potter film more than five years ago. Quote: |
Everyone else in the film was either too young or too old to fill the teenage heart-throb role. It freaked me out the first time a fan letter landed on my doorstep. At one point I was getting 10 a day.

Some people love it, but some have a kind of snobbery about anything that is that mainstream - and the fact that those films were largely for children. Sometimes it will help that people know you from that, but sometimes they will discount you because of it.
| Biggerstafff admits his debut into the world of acting at the age of five didn’t go too smoothly. Quote: |
I hated school. In fact I failed drama. The only thing that I ever failed at school was drama.
| But he stuck with it and, in later years, his class at the Scottish Youth Theatre was visited by none other than Alan Rickman (Professor Snape) who spotted the youngster’s talent. Quote: |
I remember he sat at the back of a class one day when we were doing general Saturday sessions, which were brilliant. We were acting out sketches and then I guess he just had a word with the teacher.
| BIggerstaff, who will turn 24 in March, says he is still friends with Dan Radcliffe and can’t wait to see Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix in July. He is planning to re-read through the entire Potter series before the film’s release. Cashback debuts in Biggerstaff’s hometown tonight at the Glasgow Film Festival.  | |
