| | | Schools in the UK to be more like Hogwarts - Summary:
The British government wants to turn more schools like Hogwarts in the next 5 years Article:
Thanks to Harrypotterspage Quote: In their five-year plan they want all schools to have houses like Gryffindor and Slytherin and uniforms too, although probably not robes.*
At the moment a fifth of schools don't have uniforms and the government thinks introducing them might improve schools.*
There are ideas to improve all types of schools, but it's secondary schools that need the most improving.* Quote: Other ideas to make schools better include helping really good ones get bigger so they can bring in more pupils. Quote: It's hoped houses will help pupils settle into really big schools because they'll make them seem a little bit smaller, and uniforms will make them more proud of where they go.*
Another thing the government think is very important is making it easier to move up from primary school to secondary school.* Newsround |

I would love for my school to have uniforms and have different houses to be put in!!!
I think uniforms are great for school but I think the houses might cause some problems.
But i still think it would be bloody wicked

In my schools we just wear black sweatshirts with the logo a white polo neck or shirt and black trousers and black school shoes. In most schools near me though, people wear blazers and shirts and ties etc...
Believe me, you don't want school uniform-being able to wear what you want is so much better!

When I was in my middle school, we had something like houses. There were 3 teams for each grade. Like for the 6th grade there were Morning stars, Alpha, and Genesis. For 7th grade there were Believers, Acheivers, and Crusaiders. And for the 8th there was Dream Catchers, Messengers, and Angels....but we were randomly picked. We would all compeat against eachother and stuff, but we didnt have 'points' awarded for good work.

The majority of Welsh Sceondary schools do have uniforms and houses, but that's probably because we're a different country with a different assembly to England.
Meh, I find it amusing that they're abolishing GCSE's or thinking of doing it after I've just done them. Nice people. Yeah, I believe it when I see it too Emma!!
My school had uniforms and four houses, they all do in my home town (the secondary schools anyway)
The GCSE abolishing has been on the cards a while, I did them 10 years ago so it doesn't affect me, but as long as the exam papers aren't made easier thats the main thing! |

That's how I always felt about American schooling. It would be awesome to have a school like Hogwarts and I would go to college right now to be a teacher there!! But, *sigh*, alas we have horrible progress for our school systems. But I can't agree on uniforms, I never saw the point in taking away individuality, even if for the sake of keeping kids in order. But I wouldn't have minded wearing robes to school! I would have loved robes too! Although not practical for class at all, they look really stylish.

We have all of that even public schools have blazers, ties and badges. The school houses are even in the same colours, blue, red, yellow and green.

I go to a private school and we have uniforms and houses. No one cares about houses and we only do like one house thing a year. It doesn't work in my experience.
It's an interesting idea but I'm very doubtful it will happen/work. Quote: My school had uniforms and four houses, they all do in my home town (the secondary schools anyway)

I can definately say they haven't, well I just did them and our teachers commented on how hard they were. The maths one was impossible. I bet they will get rid of GCSEs soon and all that work will be worthless lol. Ah well, that's England for ya. |

Another thing is, that I wouldnt say the houses help much here, because no one really pays atention to anyone outside their class, never mind in the year below or above them.
And also we have no house activity's here anyway, their more on the lines of year activity's or class activity's, unless you count the Sport's day's and the Eisterddfod (A welsh ceremony) where as Houses go against eachother.
But other than that we have no house related things happen.

I heard they were looking at it, but thats when two years ago all the grades got screwed up at the colleges (what a nightmare that was) and they said that the A-Levels and the GCSE's might be looking to change? But of course, as you put it, that's England for ya! |

Cause Hogwarts is bigger than any of us, of any of it's founders,

Maybe we'll see our kids come here one day.
That's the thing about Hogwarts.

I just did my A levels, they can call it easy but if they tried to do it, they'd probably die of stress. The government always blabs on about how easy they are, but if they were easy, everyone would pass and no-one would pass out from stress! Silly people!

I have heard that my school is getting rid of SATS because they see no point in them, they are thinking of doing more GCSE mock exams.
Other than reling on SATS to deturmine what classes they are most suited for, they are reling on work throught the year.

| This probably wont affect me cos my school (a private one which doesnt make me posh btw believe me) already has a uniform which i'm definately not proud of. I dont think uniform neccessarily takes away ur individuality as long as u show it by how u act or how u dress out of skool. It will probably cost alot 4 parents who mayb cant afford it cos i know my skirt for skool cost about £30 (i dont know what that is in dollars sorry) and my blazer cost £70. For state skools it prob much cheaper 4 them but for people who have difficulty affording a home it could b hard to afford it. And two houses which does not seem to make the skool smaller but that mayb cos its small anyway... i cant see others being proud of their uniform or houses in skool making them seem smaller unless they become broading skools like Hogwarts with their own common rooms and such but thats my opinion and our labour government mite actually b rite for a change (which i doubt highly). sorry 4 rambling alot and if u read this thanks 4 reading

wow i rambled alot didnt i? really sorry
