| | |  Scholastic announce New York Sorcerer's Stone readathon webcast
Scholastic, the U.S. Harry Potter publishers, have today announced that they will host a live readathon webcast in New York City to celebrate the upcoming release of the anniversary edition of Sorcerer’s Stone. The event, which will take place on September 23rd, will involve fans sitting on the throne from which J.K. Rowling read at Carnegie Hall, and reading from the first novel. It will be broadcast on their website.
It will begin at 8am, with every fan that takes part receiving a 'commemorative anniversary souvenir', with the first hundred to do so also receiving a free copy of the new edition book. Quote:
“We thrilled to celebrate the first decade of Harry Potter’s magical influence on books and reading, right here at Scholastic headquarters,” says Ellie Berger, President of Trade Books, Scholastic. “What makes this anniversary special is seeing readers who have grown up with Harry celebrating alongside a new generation of readers who will just be beginning their Hogwarts journey.”
The event will take place at the Scholastic Headquarters at 557 Broadway in Soho, New York. All those who are under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
They have also updated their website with a Sorcerer’s Stone bookmark featuring new artwork by Mary GrandPre to celebrate the upcoming release of the anniversary edition of the book. The bookmark can be found here. The book itself also includes bonus material from Jo.

It sounds like the readathon will be fun. I think it's a little ridiculous how they keep releasing new versions of the books or movies... Then again, I understand why they're doing it from a business viewpoint. And, being a fan, I know that it would be a wonderful thing to have.
