| | | Rupert Grint talks Harry Potter, Cherrybomb & Bollywood
Rupert Grint recently spoke to the Calcutta Times about his work in the Harry Potter films, how much exposure he has in Cherrybomb, and his knowledge of Bollywood films. A small scan of the article can be seen here; the interview can be read below: Quote: The world of Harry Potter is almost real. Do you ever get confused between your real identity and that of Ron Weasley?
It’s not that we are entirely different. We do share some similarities but Ron’s world and mine are completely different. I think the Muggles get confused as they see Ron before they see Rupert! You are done with five films from the series and the sixth, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, is slated for a July release. Which film of the Harry Potter series is closest to your heart?
The first film is kind of special for me. Not only was it my first experience on a film set, it was also an exciting time of my life. It was a real journey, from auditioning to getting the part. While directing Prisoner of Azkaban, Alfonso Cuaron had reportedly gained the impression that Grint is the “the likely future star out of the Hogwarts trio”. How flattering was the report?
Of course, I’m flattered. I would say I’m plain lucky that I enjoy what I do and people enjoy seeing what I do. With your earnings from the Harry Potter series, you had purchased an ice-cream van and even stated jokingly that if your career falls out after the end of the seven part series, you’ll still have the van. Are you apprehensive about not getting good roles after Harry Potter?
I just hope I carry on after Potter. Even if it does end here, the profession of an ice-cream man wouldn’t be so bad. Apart from Harry Potter, you’ve done a thriller, a coming-of-age film and comedy. Which is your favourite genre?
I’m an actor, so I wouldn’t say that there’s one style in particular that I prefer. I enjoy exploring different genres. News was that you would do a nude scene in the thriller, Cherrybomb. Daniel Radcliffe had done a frontal nude scene in the play, Equus. So, from being a superhero of children, when an actor ventures into adult roles, doesn’t acceptability by the audience become a problem?
I’m not entirely naked in Cherrybomb. All I’ve revealed is just my top half. But it is much more of an adult role. I don’t think acceptability should be a problem as the audience has also grown up with us. But yes, I’m sure hearing me swear might shock a few people. How aware are you of Bollywood?
I’ve heard of Bollywood. I loved watching Slumdog Millionaire. I don’t know if that counts as Bollywood!
A lot of Hollywood stars, including Sylvester Stallone, are coming down to India to be a part of Bollywood. Would you feature in a Bollywood film, if a good role comes along?
Yeah, Bollywood looks like great fun. I’m okay as long as it isn’t a dancing role, as I definitely don’t think I’ll manage to pull off some of those moves! Indian movies are colourful and I love the music. How do you perceive the market of Hollywood films in India?
I don’t really know much about that subject. But I think, films like Slumdog Millionaire has proved that Hollywood and Bollywood make a great combination.

Hogwarts RPG Name: unsorted | Great interview! Rupert's being modest...I've seen him dance on a tv show before and he's got moves. I didn't know Alfonso Cuaron said that about him though...that's awesome!! Rupert really is a great actor, he can do pretty much everything so I'm not surprised. But I think Emma and Dan will be successful in the future as well.
Rupert is such a hottie! |

I love Rupert. I think he's so hot, and so modest, I love him. I love him as an actor, he is wonderful, has so much talent. I am sure he will be able to find more roles after Harry Potter.
