A review for ' Driving Lessons', (Rupert Grint, Julie Walters) featured today in The Scotsman, highlights Grint's ability to pull off a character that isn't Ron Weasley. Quote:
The film follows the story of Ben, ably played by Rupert Grint, who takes up a summer job with retired actress Evie (Julie Walters) and finds himself learning all about life, love and poetry through camping trips and a visit to the Edinburgh Festival.

As Ben, Grint does just enough to suggest he's capable of shaking off the character of Ron Weasley from the Harry Potter films, for which he is best known.
There are a few moments when the shy, awkward teenager resembles the shy, awkward teenage wizard, but they are few and far between, and on the whole it is an excellent performance.

Rupert is an excellent, natural actor. I've seen the film, and you'll all be impressed and proud of him. He can go from drama to comedy in a blink of an eye. He's a great actor, and Driving Lessons, I believe, will prove that to any doubters! GREAT interview! THanks Emma!

i watched a trailer where the girl says to 'ben' "sorry but your too weird" after he says the poem,the look on his face made me cry,i so wanted to punch her for making him upset. it looks brilliant,especially coz rupert's in it !!!

I haven't watched the movie yet but I totally agree. Rupert is so naturally talented that I think he may be able to divorce himself from Harry Potter once it's completed. I'm also ecstatic that he's going to do all 7 Potters.

I have said this before he shows great potential as an actor. His hair kinda makes Ron but not totally it is the way that Rupert plays the character and his facial expressions are priceless. I can not wait to see future movies that he will make. Rupert is so awesome makes me wonder if any of his siblings want to be bitten by the acting bug?
