Rumour: Radcliffe in new role?
 

Both Contact Music and Teen Hollywood are reporting that TV chiefs apparently want Dan Radcliffe to star in a comeback of the 'James Herriot' hit TV series.

Both sources are equally unreliable.

While it may be true that TV chiefs want Dan for the role, it is extremely unlikely that this will actually happen as we all know he is very busy playing Harry Potter and getting ready for his GCSE exams.

but the quote says
"HARRY POTTER actor DANIEL RADCLIFFE is to star as a young vet in a British TV comeback of the hit JAMES HERRIOT series."

Meaning that it looks like he is going to star, now as much as I want to see Dan in different things I want to see Dan in HP too, I hope it is just a rumor and nothing more.

I mean it is good for him but not now please...

what on earth is the James Herriot hit series?! to be frank i'm still waiting for the hannibal lector thing, its gonna happen i just know it :eyebrows: or maybe not :blink: anyway, i'm sure he does want to expand himself as an actor and grow as a person etc etc which will mean other roles outside HP, but as has been said here and before, he just doesnt have the free time at any point in the forseeable future so i wont hold my breath on this!

But later in the article it says the TV Chiefs WANT him to.

It seems the press have taken what was actually said, entirely out of context. Which doesn't surprise me.

They base headlines on what the article says but alot of the time, they misconstrue it for the sake of sensationalisation.

If he was doing it, we'd know it - either through DR.co.uk or DR.com - expect this to be debunked very soon.

It's funny that both contact music and teen hollywood both reported it!

Reminds me of when Rupert's name was thrown around for playing in Tin Tin and it was just that Hollywood threw his name around, not that he was contacted for it, which could be the case for Dan.

In any case, while I doubt it's authenticity, it's about time that his name has been thrown around for such things. It's really only been Rupert that has had his name thrown outside of the world HP and is actually doing stuff outside of HP, which is good. He doesn't want to get typecasted.

Just for the record, Contact Music is rubbish. It's never true and never will be. :P.

You're right, as always Marcella, entirely out of context, and misconstrue for the sake of sensationalisation...

But it works...*Ottery got whiplash clicking here so fast* Then he noticed it said Rumor...but you know me...I like to be sensationalistic...lol

Wow, I think that's fantastic! I have always been hoping to see Dan in other roles............

I want to see him in other roles, I hope he moves to US so he can make some movies here, but I think since he is to young he will not do it until maybe later.
But for now I want to see him in HP. So I hope this is just a rumor.

I totally agree. It sounds like between doing a tv series, Harry Potter, and school he would have enough time for it all. I hate to sound like my dad but he should finish what he started and stay with the harry potter series. It sounds selfish but whats 3 more movies after GOF?

Well, if he isn't cast for OOTP (please not) than I think all three kids would have other offers for other roles, and I hope they choose the best......but they will be back for more HP anyways.

Well it is about 3 to 4 years of his life, and if he decide not keep playing Harry then that is his choice.

I think that this is just a rumour and Dan is going to stay with HP for one more film.
But he can play in two films in the same time......but that`s too hard, I tried that in theatre. :)

Don't forget guys, David Heyman said he's 'quietly confident' that all three will return for the 5th and beyond, and that's definitely encouraging. Of course, all us Rupert fans know Rupert wants to stay for the rest. :) But he has gotten offers outside of HP, such as Driving Lessons. Which is definitely a good move to do movies during off time of when HP is filmed. Since most movies take less time to film then the HP series, it'd be easy when they've got the time.
