Alas... sounds a bit iffy to me! for even though i *really* want to read the book, i thought it would come out about 2 years from now!

ooooh thats interesting! yeah this is only a rumor but J.K did say that it will be out sooner than people think and the reason her last one took so long was for two reasons...1) it was massive, where as this one ain't as thick....2) She said she was working hard on this one before book 5came out. DUN DUN DUUUUUN!

Oh wow I hope that is true and that the HBP comes out sometime earlier next year!

I recently brought the school books to add to my collection of HP books. I was at Barnes and Noble a very large bookstore in the US, and they say they had no information on the release date for HBP. This was only five days ago. I've been shopping there for all my books for as long as I can remember and I know the manager who helped so if he knew I am pretty sure he would have told me.

I would take this rumor with a grain of salt.

I don't know about anyone else... but I put my hopes on having it in time for Christmas! We would all be very merry this Christmas for sure! :sorcerer:

This isn't big news. JK said at the London premier that she was almost finished with the rough draft of the book. She would have then sent it of to publisher for editing and then dialogue between them and her would happen. That could take a short period or very long depending of what points were covered. Then you edit for grammar and spelling then off it goes to be typeset.

I've felt since her comments in June we were looking a release date between late Nov, for the holiday buying, and maybe early Feb or Mar of 2005.

I think its very possible it could come out by the end of this year...i hope it does

It would be nice if it weren't true, but Scholastic hasn't set a date yet, remember? They won't set one till the manuscript is finished.

I thought that Scholastic already denied the rumour that HBP was to be released this year.
Of course, I do hope it's true. I'm really looking forward to this one.

Since this is a rumour Ill not put too much in it, but having said that I do not hope that end of the year means next end of the year...I would hate it if the HBP didnt come out until christmas 2005

It would be cool if it came out this christmas tough but I dunno...I always thought it would come out around Easter or June/July 2005...

^yeah i agree, i don't think it's likely book 6 will be released this year...early or middle of next year more like. but i hope it wont be something like next Christmas!

It sounds like a fake... but, I wish it were true! It just seems weird because now that JK has her own site, she's been putting all news on there first, why would this be the exception? I suppose I could see why she'd want to keep theis news quite if it's not a definitive date, but I'd think she'd at least put an update that says the book is nearing completion.

It would be great to have the book by the end of the year, though, and then JK would be able to have her baby in peace because us fans will be to busy re-reading the book and series when she gives birth. lol.

I hope you meant around Christmas time, and not actually Christmas because that would stink. No midnight parties because it's Christmas eve... no UPS deliverary the day the book comes out so no pre-ordering online.... no stores open... and the religious issue always comes into call when a Harry Potter book is released. Can you imagine how many more organized book burnings would take place if Harry was released on a holiday?

I highly doubt this is true. As much as I want it to be! I just think that JK would have told us first on her site when it was being released. And with all her letters and posts on her site lately, they have all had her saying "the book is going very well" but it never says that she is almost done it. I read somewhere that once she is finished she must hand it to the publishers and then it still takes about 6 + months to publish and distribute it. So I doubt we will have it for Christmas. That would be so cool tho! I put my money on next summer. :ermsmile:

Oh im soo excited for the next book !!! i hope it comes out really soon and before my O levels next May .. otherwise i wouldnt be able to study .. i was actually hoping for a christmas release this year but i no it wouldnt be possible :ermsmile: .. but i do hope it does come out early next year( ive said that many times already havent i !). even though i soo hope it comes out soon i think this is only jus a rumour and isnt even very convincing.. i mean they havent even given a date have they? oh well, enough of my rubbish!!

Er... but why would they send out documentation like that when the stores don't even have the book yet? it's like "Oh, I know you don't have the book, you've never even seen a copy of it, and it isn't even completely finished, but please don't sell it before december because then we'd have trouble getting out half-finished books." It doesn't make any sense to me. I'm guessing spring/Summer for release. We'll have POA in Nov/Dec anyway... that'll keep us going for a couple months.

It is also possible that this book might be big like HP and they want to keep it hidden until release day... if the account is even true.
