| | | Rumour: GoF Length
Thanks to the April 2005 issue of the Spanish magazine ' Fotogramas', a rumour is going around that ' Goblet of Fire', the fourth Potter film, will be 2 hours and 20 minutes long.
Please be aware, this is JUST a rumour.
Plenty of so-called reports, regarding the length of ' Prisoner of Azkaban', were released prior to the official announcement of the running time.
Seeing as filming has only recently been completed and not all editing will have been done, it's unlikely that an exact length will be known yet.
We'll keep you posted if we hear anything further on the matter.

| I think it would be great if it was that long. The only ones that wont be glad is Parents who have young children as they might get board and start messing around and carry on. Thats why i'll bring my sis along cause she'll make sure that no one distracts us while we are trying to watch it. She's a bit of a nutter you see and she'll scare them silly. Thank goodness she isnt going to read my posts. |

PoA was 2 hours and 15 minutes, I think. I'm pretty positive it was.

PoA was two hours and twenty two minutes long. I believe SS was two hours and forty minutes, and CoS was two hours and forty one minutes. This is the thing I'm the most p/o-ed about. It's ridiculous. The book was at least 300 pages longer, so the movie should be substancially longer as well. I dont care about the little kids and the people that aren't fans. Stay true to the psycho-nutter-dress-up-and-go-to-the-film-opening-night fans. Those are the people that need pleased first. I know it's hard to keep a kid sitting still for that long, but if they like HP, they will sit and watch it. God help us if this is really how long the movie is gonna be.

The book was longer because it had more action. The QWC took up several chapters but can be covered in around 15 minutes quite reasonably/fairly.
It'd also take longer to make a longer film therefore decreasing the chances that the kids will return as they become furtherly older.
I believe they can do it in this length of time. The Dursleys and SPEW have been cut so that'll narrow it down. & those were relatively good cuts in the sense that those parts weren't important or especially entertaining.

Hmm, well I think that sounds about right, but I don't think it could be any longer, I'd rather have it nice and long so it's keeps in the right elements/themes from the book than shorter just to keep little kids happy. Besides I don't think little kids would want to see the horrid Voldemort rise again? I think I'll be scared and I'm 18!

I think the length is due to the tight schedule they're on. Plus cinematically, some things won't work. SPEW and the Durlseys on screen might've been humorous to us, but it could've potentially turned out very boringly, in terms of cinematic viewing.

| Oh dear! I'm sincerely hoping that's a rumor! I mean, I wasn't expecting it to be 4 hours long or anything but 2 hours and 20 mins?! Come on people! It's GoF we're talking about! Anyway, if this does turn out to be true then I'll just have to bare with it I suppose *sobs*. Lol, no really, I'll defiantly live, as long as HPB is nice and long (even if it is shorter than OotP).

^ We know the length of HBP. It's 672 pages for the US version and 608 for the UK, I think. It was announced ages ago though.

| I hope ıt will be longer. I expect at least 3 hours. Too long? why not? the book is long and the film should be long as well. But ıt's just a wish. I must be realistic. |

A lovely length. I hope the actual length is somewhat close to that.

HP PS was 2 hrs 40, so GoF should really be 3 and a half hours!

The size of the book isn't a good measure. As I've said before, SPEW & the Dursleys have already been cut and the QWC & tasks (which take up huge chunks of the book) can be dealt with in an about an hour and a half just on their own.
