| | |  Royal Mail strikes may disrupt Deathly Hallows deliveries
The Royal Mail has written to the Communication Workers Union to request they abandon any plans for industrial action in the week of the Deathly Hallows release. Quote:
The letter says: "I am sure the CWU will not want to be the cause for the final book not getting to its readers. I would urge you to ensure that there is no strike action in the week of the launch."
Their reponse was a short but sweet "no".
On Friday 180,000 workers went on strike, causing chaos for the Royal Mail. Quote:
A Royal Mail spokesman said: "We are very sorry at the disruption to our customers' mail. The dispute is about the absolutely urgent need to modernise."
A spokeswoman for Harry Potter publisher Bloomsbury said: "We are holding our breath. It could be very hairy."
As someone who has family involved in the dispute, I fully support whatever action they choose to take. Royal Mail have once again brought it on themselves. | |

It's awful how strikers always choose the worst moment to try to get their rights and, sadly sometimes, their wrongs. I'm not aware of all the facts, but loads of innocent people get the real blow of things here, and neither party really cares about them; it's the power struggle and nothing else.
