The Scotsman reports that JK ROWLING has been crowned queen of the world wide web after her new internet site attracted a staggering 220 million "hits".

The Edinburgh author’s website has proved phenomenally popular since it was launched just eight weeks ago. The home page receives 27.5 million hits on average a week making it the most popular childrens’ site on the internet.

The author’s website will soon have racked up more "hits" than her 260 million book sales over the past seven years.

Ms Rowling used her website, JKRowling.com, to let the world know she was pregnant with her third child last weeked.
