Summary:
With the release of Prisoner of Azkaban the fan's of Harry Potter's best friend, Ron Weasley, have made their feeling's on how his character is being portrayed heard. An online petition to make return Ron Weasley's character to how JK Rowling has made him is now available and will be forwarded to the screenwriter.

Article:

Hello Everyone,

With the third installment of the Harry Potter series 'Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban' being released in Britian a few days ago and the world wide release on June 4th the online community has already jumped at the script.
This time it isn't about the missing, vital scene's or the massive plot holes, this time it is about the way Ron Weasley is being portrayed. The Ron Weasley we love from the books is one that is quirky, loyal, fun and brave, but all we are seeing in the movie is a very sad comic relief character.
With Hermione Granger, who is an amazing character on her own, getting one of his most important lines from the movie (marking the second time in the series she has stolen an important line) Ron Weasley fan's pounced. A new petition (link below) is now available for people to give their comments to Steve Knovels about his actions in making Ron the third wheel and giving Hermione the role of 'Super Hermione', one that doesn't sum up our favorite Gryffindor girl in the third movie.
To read through the petition click here

Here are some main parts from the petition:
Quote:
We, the undersigned, petition you to discontinue ignoring Ron Weasley in favour of Hermione Granger in the film adaptations of JK Rowling’s phenomenal Harry Potter series. Mr. Kloves has been known to say that he loves Hermione. That’s fine, so do most people. However, the film adaptations are letting Ron go in favour of Hermione, which is becoming more and more disconcerting. We believe the script should stay true to Ms Rowling’s characterisations.
Quote:
It is one of the most powerful lines that Ron has up to date in the series, and it was disappointing to see it given to Hermione by Mr. Kloves. The line from the book, Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban is as follows:

"If you want to kill Harry, you'll have to kill us too!" he said fiercely, though the effort of standing upright was draining him of still more color, and he swayed slightly as he spoke.

"Did you hear me?" Ron said weakly, though he was clinging painfully to Harry to stay upright. "You'll have to kill all three of us!"

These two “little” lines are a turning point in the development of Ron Weasley’s character.
Please if you feel strongly about Ron's character then lend your support to the petition as soon as possible.

Speaking of petition's, some of you may remember a few months ago I started a 'Harry Potter and the prisoner of Azkaban DVD' petition in which it requested for audio commentary. After excellent support from the online community I forwarded the petition and recieved a reply from Warner Bros. a few days ago.
They thanks everyone for the suggestion and forwarded the idea to the DVD format designer's. Hopefully this extra feature will be included.

Save Ron Weasley

I was actually searching for an online petition asking JK to please DO NOT kill Ron-- I found this petition and its just as awesome!

Ron Weasley is my most favorite character in the HP series! Coz he is the most real. I know a lot of guys, many male friends who are very much like him and can easily identify with him. They are the guys I love to hang around with bcoz they are genuine and funny, they are fun to be with, no dull moment when they're around.

I think Ron's shining moment in the series is in book 4, when Harry threw a "Potter Stinks" badge at him and hit him in the forehead. Harry thought that Ron would hit him back when he walked past Ron going up the stairs, and Harry actually wished Ron would do so, but Ron just stood there "in his too small pajamas" -- and this made Harry feel worse. I was in tears when I read this part.

Its true what Hermione said, Ron is in a lot of pressure to prove himself at par with his superior older brothers (Bill and Percy were Head Boy, Charlie the best griffindor quidditch seeker during his year at Hogwarts), all his belongings are hand-me-downs, then his best friends are rich and famous Harry Potter and Hermione the brightest witch of her age-- BUT HE PUTS UP WITH ALL OF IT.

He often says everything he owns is rubbish, but he loves and cares a lot about and give importance to everything he has-- he fights for his mother and father, his brothers, Ginny, he loves his pets Scabbers and Pigwidgeon, and will die for Harry and Hermione (remember the wizard's chess moment in SS).

We should all have a "Ron" in our lives-- they are the people we trust 100%, whose words we never doubt. They are the ones who stick with us thru the good and bad times-- they make the good times better, happier... and the bad times bearable.

And Rupert Grint is the best young actor in the HP movies! For me, he is the only one among young cast of HP actors who always delivers "satisfactorily" whatever is required of him by the script. In the PoA movie, his role was reduced to just providing the film's comic relief.. and yet, he did just that successfully -- with flying colors! He had very few scenes but it only proves that its not the quantity but the quality that counts, and that you cant keep a good talent/actor down.. even if they tried (and I'm not saying they did), he still managed to shine through! Not very few actors say that it is easier to make the audience cry than to make the audience laugh coz you need good timing to deliver the punchlines successfully. Rupert is certainly brilliant!

I agree about this whole disgusting injustice being done to Ron Weasley/Rupert Grint so I definitely signed up! I'm 971!

And I also signed up to join Snitchseeker just for this!
