I think it's quite important that she is at the funeral, I just finished re-reading HBP, and it says that she is holding a red note book.

I think it's important because of all the fuss the book she wrote about Dumbledore in DH.
Otherwise, it's not so bad, as long as she doesn't have much of a huge part, from memory she doesn't say anything, she is just there.

She definately should have been in OotP and she should be in HBP aswell. I love Rita, and Miranda is one of my favourite actresses. Hmph! *Le sigh*

but how will they do DH if they don't put her in? That book is a big part of Harry's inner conflict about Dumbledore... Her character has to be in DH some how!

OoTP was a big part they cut out... that sucked!

As far as HBP, she only cameos at the Funeral. as far as I can recall..... No Biggie!

Ok...while I must say I'm not toooo terribly upset about them cutting out her minimal part in this movie...all these stories about parts/characters being cut makes me wonder what's gonna be left of this movie...

After leaving Rita out of OOTP we probably wont see her character again. There is still a few months filming left on HBP so she may appear at the funeral, if it hasn't been shot yet?
Rita's gossip in OOTP was an interesting but minor story line particularly when Hermione caught her "bugging" their conversations but is only important in DH as author of Dumbeldores's biography. Perhaps they'll bring her back to cover some of the detail and important plot points instead of leaving it to Hermione (again) to explain it for the dummies (non HP fans).

Aww no. I love her! She's really good! I was so disapointed not to see her in Goblet of fire I suppose it's not a MAJOR deal if she's in Half-Blood prince or not :\ Still...lol

if she didn't appear in ootp when she had a role to do, she won't appear in HBP which she hadn't got any role but showing in the funeral

Hopfully not a sign that the film makers are on some sort of "cast cutting" campaign tho!!!

To be honest her film was GOF she isnt needed for the other two and isnt in the finale at all

David Yates is cutting a lot of roles and parts... quidditch in OotP, Rita Skeeter,...
At least she hasn't got a big role in HBP... just appearing on Dumbledore's funeral...

Rita is in DH, she wrote the book about Dumbledore and that is a big part of Harry's conflict of who he is and who his mentor really was. Her Character is big in DH at least her character's accomplishment.....

that's to bad she a great actress. i dont think she has a big part anyway.

they could still have the Skeeter book in DH without necessarily showing Rita anymore, all they have to do is name drop/ show her picture that she wrote the book on DD and audiences will remember her as the tabloid journalist from GOF.

It's not one of the things that are really important, so I don't care that much

she is more mentioned that seen though which means they could still talk about her with out having to have her on screen. She isnt a character id miss id rather her than tonks or mad eye or even a weasley
