| | |  Rhys Ifans talks Deathly Hallows & Xenophilius Lovegood
A few days ago we told you that Rhys Ifans had announced his casting in Deathly Hallows on national television and added that he is expected to play Xenophilius Lovegood. In a new interview., to promote his new movie, The Boat That Rocked, he has now spoken about the wizard role. Quote: Q. Are you taking any time off?
Rhys Ifans: No. I hit the ground running. I’m working with Ben Stiller now. I fly back to LA on Thursday to do Greenberg, a Noel Baumbach film, with Ben, and Jennifer Jason Leigh. Then I fly back here to do Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows, and after that I’ll do Nanny McPhee 2, with Emma Thompson (Trelawney). So I’m busy, busy, busy.
Quote: Q. Who do you play in Harry Potter? And is this something quite new for you, to be doing family orientated movies?
Rhys Ifans: I play a wizard. The last few Harry Potter films, I think they’re really cool. I was never a real fan of Harry Potter, but I love how they’ve become darker, and I love how Daniel Radcliffe and his co-stars have grown up through the telling of the story. Harry Potter is a little bit of history; it will be. So it’s been kind of a real honour being asked to be part of a project like that, and though I haven’t got kids myself, a lot of my friends have kids, so it’ll be great to do something they can see. He’s a good wizard – a really great guy. In Nanny McPhee, I’m a bad guy, someone you’d boo and hiss at.

Hmmmm Xenophillius would be interesting. He isn't normally in kids films, so it'll be nice to see how he takes to it.

Has he read the final book, I mean I know Xenophilius Lovegood's heart is in the right place when he tries to turn in the trio to the DEs in exchange for his daughter's safe return, but it was still wrong and villianish if you ask me. Xenophilius Lovegood is not a completely good guy.

This will be interesting, seeing as Xenophillius is supposed to be a very out-of-touch with reality kinda guy. Hope he does a good job since he's not used to doing family films.

Awesome. He's not really how I pictured Xenophilius, but I can definitely see him in that role. I think he's perfect...especially considering Xeno betrays them. And I'm also a huge fan of Nanny McPhee so it's great to hear that he's going to be in that!  | |
