Unfortunately, none of our staff could attend the New York premiere. However, luckily for us,
Tao, webmiss at one of our sister sites,
Ice Cream Man, managed to go and has agreed to share her report and pictures with us!
Enjoy!

After an exhausting day previously (getting up early to see Rupert on The Today Show and standing around at TRL for him as well), my mom and I again got up at around 4am and at around 5am, we left the hotel and made our way towards the Ziegfield theatre. Finally arriving moments later, we were a little shocked by how little there was in the way of people standing around. I certainly expected more considering how the London premiere went.
After about a half hour or so sitting in the freezing cold, we finally began to move close to the street. The crew to set up the place finally arrived and we began walking to the other side of the street, sitting on the curb waiting for the event to begin. As the hours passed, more and more people showed up including people we began talking to throughout the day.
To the right were two huge Rupert fans, to the left was a huge HP fan from Texas. Behind us were two really, really nice Dan fans. While waiting we began having to pee terribly bad and the father of one of the Rupert fans let us use his hotel that was directly next to the theatre while the really nice Dan fans saved our spot for us in the front.
By this time the sun had come up and the gates to keep us back had been put into place. When we arrived back, we began waiting some more, still too early. It became a game of people cheering for cars to beep the horn, cheering on trucks that finally moved out of the way, and making jokes about everything going on to pass the time.
At some point, they began handing out pieces of the red carpet. (No, I didn't get any!) We then watched them put up posters (One of the Ron ones was directly in front of me, of course it was turned around for the press!) and gluing down the redcarpet and even vaccuuming it!
Again, the hours passed and as it got closer, the police and all began moving the barraccades for us to be closer. This proved difficult because people tried their best to get ahead of everyone and try to steal spots away from people! It was very annoying. I, luckily, kept my spot.
As 2pm began to come closer, and we were all cold, tired, and our feet began to ache, everyone started chanting, "Block the street!" to which they scoffed at us acting as if they could not! (Everyone in the US knows this is absolutely NOT true as they block off several streets for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade!)
Finally the stars began to arrive.
First up was Jamie Waylett. We got really antsy about this because the limo dropped him off at the red carpet to talk to reporters. It took forever for him to make his way down. (This is why my camera died! I left it on thinking we'd see him soon enough!) And when he finally did leave the red carpet to sign autographs, he signed very few!
During this, Katie was spotted and she too did the same thing, signing only a few autographs. I got pictures of both of them, of course the images are a bit blurred!
Somewhere in this I saw Karkaroff's aide and the one who plays Angelina standing around on the red carpet.
Then came Rupert. He was the first of the trio to arrive. To read about my encounter with him go to
this page.
David Heyman actually came walking up the street in front of us. No one expected this I think and we were quite shocked to see him just waltzing by with his family!
While watching for Rupert, Matt Lewis came by, signing autographs, leaving, coming back to sign more, and so on. I didn't get an autograph or a picture this time.
And again as Rupert made his way down, Emma came out of nowhere and began signing autographs. I couldn't get one (due to all the shoving!) but I managed to get quite a lovely photo of her. It is true... she's *beautiful* in person.
Then came the twins who followed Rupert down the red carpet. They never stopped to sign autographs.
While we waited to see who else would come, we spotted Ralph walking in to see the movie, as well as Robert. Both of which waved to the fans. Neither of them signed autographs though. We didn't see Brandon Gleeson, Miranda Richardson, or Jason Isaccs, though obviously all three were there.
And last to arrive and to walk in was Dan. Far away he seemed shorter than what he said his height was. I'm 5'5" and maybe if he had stood in front of me I could tell for sure, but from that distance, he seemed shorter! Dan took his time talking to the press only turning around a few times to smile and give a wave to the fans. He also did not sign autographs. I do not know why, all I know is that his personal helper person dragged him away from the press.
And as Dan went in and the press began packing up and leaving, that's when the crowd began to disipate and move. I had planned on going to the podcast, but since I was so dead on my feet and wasn't sure where the heck Union Square was, my mom and I decided against it.
