This past Friday, July 28th, SS Mod Kay, demented_death_eater, attended the Harry and the Potters "Summer Reading and Rocking Tour 2006"! She has very kindly written up a report and given us pictures from the event:

Wizarding rock electrified the Muggle hamlet of Riverside, CA on Friday, July 28 as Harry and the Potters, accompanied by Draco and the Malfoys, made a stop on their six-week Summer Reading and Rocking Tour 2006. A crowd of nearly 70 Muggles and Wizards gathered in front of the Glen Avon Public Library in the early evening hours to hear the catchy tunes of the two groups. Draco and the Malfoys opened up the concert to the glee of the many Slytherins in the audience and explained that all of their songs are from the perspective of Harry Potter's rival. Catchy songs, such as "99 Death Eaters," "Broomstick," and "My Dad is Rich," had the audience laughing, singing and dancing along. There were many Muggles who fell under the intoxicating spell of the Malfoys, and the crowd erupted into howling cheers as the group poured all of their energies into "Voldemort is Awesome" and "Hippogriffs Deserve to Die" to end their 40 minute performance.

Between performances, the fans lined up at the merchandising table where t-shirts, CDs, and yes, toothbrushes, were on sale. A few fans scrambled to have their pictures taken with the Malfoys while the Potters were preparing to take the stage.

Harry and the Potters took to the stage amongst deafening cheers and whistles, and immediately jumped into their song "Voldemort Can't Stop the Rock!" As they sang, the crowd moved in closer to the band and shouts of "We love you Harry!" could be heard from several audience members. The Potters performed many of their memorable songs, including "Save Ginny Weasley," "Stick It to Dolores," and "SPEW." Their earlier material seemed to be a warm up and they seamlessly moved into playing songs from their latest album, "Harry and the Potters and the Power of Love." The song "Save Ginny Weasley From Dean Thomas" had the audience clapping and dancing along, while "The Hogwarts Tonsil Hockey Team" had the entire audience in hysterics. The band took their final bow as the last few rays of the sunset glowed in the sky and their hour-long performance received a well-deserved standing ovation from the entire crowd.

Throughout their energetic performance, the Potters constantly interjected their message about the power of reading and how it empowers you to make wise and informed decisions. In all, it was truly a magical night and if I had a Time-Turner, I would watch it all over again. I love Harry and the Potters! Kay was so lucky to be able to see them live. I really get a kick out of the fact that they took an awesome series of books that they clearly love and made a music career out of it. Here's hoping they get much bigger than they are now, and that they achieve the success they deserve. They're great!

Never heard of Draco and the Malfoys before, though ... I'll have to check them out next!
