The following is an interview I conducted with Grace, the Webmistress of RGMS.

Emma: What's your name, age, location?

Grace: My name is Grace, I am 27, and I live in the US.

Emma: When did you get into Harry Potter and how?

Grace: I remember it very clearly. It was the winter of 1999, and I was visiting a friend during winter term at my college. There was a period where I had to kill some time and happened to visit a bookstore. I had heard a lot about the Harry Potter books but never really had a desire to read them. But that day as I walked throught the bookstore Sorcerer's Stone caught my eye and on impulse I bought it. Soon, I had purchased all of the first three books. I really love the Harry Potter universe, it's so imaginative and exciting.

Emma: When did you become interested in Rupert and how?

Grace: I've been a fan of Rupert's from the moment I saw him in the first Harry Potter film.

Emma: Which is your favourite book and which is your favourite film (HP) & reasons.

Grace: My favorite book is Goblet of Fire and it will probably be my favorite film as well. Right now, my favorite film is Prisoner of Azkaban.

Emma: Who are your favourite characters and why?

Grace: Ron and Hermione are my favorite characters, without a doubt. There's a hint of romance there and what can I say...I'm a sucker for romance. Obviously, I also have a special place in my heart for Harry. You can't help but be drawn into this universe without feeling something powerful for Harry's struggles.

Of the other characters I like Lupin, Tonks, and the entire Weasley family, and Neville. I would like to learn more about these characters, I'm very intrigued by them. I want to learn more about the history of the Weasley family, I just love all of them so much.

Emma: Who's your favourite actor & why?

Grace: Rupert Grint. Who would have known. Rupert appears to be a very laid back, quiet guy and very intriguing. I've always been drawn to the quiet, mysterious people. He's a very honest person but also very guarded. He's demonstrated his creative abilities along with his attention to detail, but at the same time he's admitted he's quite lazy and not the studious type. I think that Alfonso Cuaron really pinned him down with the comment that alluded to basically the question: is Rupert a genius or a fool? Alfonso never meant anything cruel by it, he was simply trying to explain the type of person Rupert is. Rupert's potential for genius is shown in his work, though the surface he doesn't appear to take any of it too seriously. That's what really impressed me about Rupert. He can do the work and be a great actor and at the same time take it easy; it's not hard for him.

Emma: How do you prefer his hair - some prefer it long as it as now and some liked it when it was shorter. Also, what do you think of his casual dress sense? (I personally love it - there's no false pretences there whatsoever and it makes him even more down to earth and therefore he's easier to relate to.)

Grace: I have always liked his hair. I wouldn't mind if he kept it long, but if he decided to cut it that would be okay, too. In regard to his dress sense, I think it's great. Personally, I don't like formal wear. I always feel more comfortable wearing casual clothing. I like the fact that Rupert hasn't gone down the glamour road. I think at one point during the promotion of CoS he was being pushed into it but it didn't stick. Now he's going back to casual and I think he should stay that way.

Emma: Have you ever met him?

Grace: No. *weeps*

Emma: What would you like to see Rupert do in the future?

Grace: I think he should do any and all projects that appeal to him. He's already indicated that he doesn't want to continue with school. If he can handle doing projects and films without burning himself out he should. I would love to see him continue with Harry Potter films but I would be happy to see him at work on anything. No matter what anyone says he is a very versatile actor and would fit in on any set.

Emma: What would you like to see happen to Ron in the future or what do you think will happen?

Grace: I think that something very foreboding will happen to Ron. Right now I don't see any definate evidence that Ron will be killed but I think something dramatic will occur. Ron and Harry's friendship is very strong and there is a huge bond of loyalty. I don't know for sure what will happen, but I know that whatever does J.K. Rowling will have a good reason for it.

Emma: Do you think Ron is portrayed fairly in the films in reference to Hermione being given his lines, his screen time and the fact that he is portrayed as more of a coward and thicko (for lack of a better phrase) than as he actually is - knowledgable about the wizarding world and extremely brave & courageous.

Grace: Hmm, yeah, well that is a point I have had a problem with regarding the films. I have thought about it several times and every time I come to the same conclusion. Kloves could have kept the lines the same as they had been in the books but by the time the big line-swapping occurred Ron was already put into the "slow funny guy friend of main character" slot and he figured it wouldn't have worked in the films. Ron is some of the things from the films but he is also what you have mentioned in your question...making him quite complex, possibly too complex for the films. What really bites is Rupert should be able to reinvent the character Ron in the films, but he's not really been given the chance to do that. I think with a new screenwriter for Film 5 (and if Rupert is still there) he might be able to be given the chance to redeem the character a bit. Time will tell. But to give Kloves credit, I think movie viewers who haven't read the books really enjoy Ron and his role, even though they're being given an incomplete version.

Emma: Do you think Rupert is given less press attention than the other two? If so, for what reasons do you think this is?

Grace: I do think Rupert is given less press attention but it's probably because of several things. One, when he's interviewed he doesn't give the extended answers to questions that Emma and Dan are so happy to give. For example, Rupert might be asked what he thinks of the premiere, and he'd honestly and simply answer that it's cool. But Emma or Dan would probably give a two-sentence answer and the press love that. They love to get a lot of feedback so they can have plenty to show when the story is aired. Over time, the press know this and I think maybe that has decreased the amount of interviews he's been asked to attend.

Another reason why he gets less is that he or his agents (or parents) might not be seeking to get him into interviews or press junkets. Rupert has already expressed that he's not too keen on being interviewed and you can tell that by some of the answers he's given (e.g., he stated he finds it hard to think up answers to questions when he's being interviewed). I don't blame him, it's tough sometimes to think up answers at the drop of your hat.

Emma: What has been your favourite Rupert 'moment'?

Grace: Well, not one we've actually seen. It's the moment he spoke about learning he was chosen for the role of Ron and how excited he'd been. Reading about it seemed quite thrilling to me; just imagine, you've just been cast in a role that you admire and you know you're about to become famous. I think that was a great moment for him and so that's the best answer I can think of for this question.

Emma: Do you 'ship' at all? If so, which one/s and why?

Grace: Ron and Hermione. Ever since I started to read the books in 1999 I knew they were destined for each other. 'Nuff said.

Emma: What's your favourite Ron line?

Grace: “Ah, think of the possibilities. It would’ve been so easy to push Malfoy off a glacier and make it look like an accident… Shame his mother likes him. . .”

Emma: When did you decide to make a Rupert site and why?

Grace: In October of 2004 I felt it was time to provide more media-related content for Rupert fans. I felt there should be a site that is more Rupert-centric. I noticed that too many sites under the name "Rupert Grint" were more like HP fan sites, instead of Rupert fan sites. I choose not to post film information on the site unless it relates to Rupert in some way and I will continue to do that. I'd been a Rupert fan for so long and had so much information and the desire to be a source that I thought it was time to do something.

Emma: How did you come up with the design?

Grace: The design is only as good as my HTML talent and my ability to use PSP. I knew in the beginning I wanted a black background and a lot of orange, so I think my vision was basically brought to life.

Emma: What would you do if you met Rupert?

Grace: Probably nothing. I'd be too stunned to do anything. Funny, because I've been trying to set up an interview with him at the premiere or another event, (no luck on that front, BTW, so don't get excited) and so if I do and can't say anything to him it would all be wasted. *laughs*

You know, everyone claims that when Ron "jokes" about things that they happen, but c'mon... Ron said he had as much chance at winning the house championship as Mr. Weasley becoming MoM. Now while one of the predictions came true, the other certainly didn't. The "die Ron die" thing just seems like such a weird thing to base a theory on. Heck, he wasn't even really in a lot of danger in the DoM (that we know of, 'cept for the brains part) and Hermione was the one who could've died had the Death Eater been able to speak.

I just think that Ron's got a better chance of living because JKR speaks so highly after the man she modled Ron after. I just think there was a reason for that because Ron is suppose to be the great friend to Harry that this guy was for JKR. Now, right, that doesn't mean that she wouldn't kill him off, but I feel that does work in his favour.

That's just a small part of it. The way I see it, why put something like that in? Everything has a purpose; what's the purpose or reason for that?

He sacrified himself once for Harry, I just see it happening again. I can't see any other ending for Ron.

For comedy? Not everything a writer puts in their stories has a purpose. As a writer myself, I can tell you that everything I put in doesn't have a purpose to the overall plot. I think we just got so accustomed to JKR's writing, where in hind sight it was so obvious what was going on, that we tend to look for these type of things.

See, despite that the movies *just* make Ron the funny sidekick, they are right. Ron is the funny sidekick, but with more to him than that. I think the "die Ron die" was just a joke. I mean, if we're going with that, then Harry having the "grim" in his tea leaves spells doom for him too, just not in PoA like everyone thought. I just think you can't take everything and assume it'll be the worse. Again, if you take the fact that Harry's parents defeated Voldemort three times and then ultimately meet their death, that Harry would have the same fate, as he did so too. SS, CoS, OotP... the next time he runs into him spells doom because, well, Harry's parents had the same fate. So sometimes you just can't take something that's written and say, "Oh, look!"

Now, I do believe Ron would completely sacrafice himself for Harry, but that definitely doesn't mean he'll die. I just think he'll be noble. The R/Hr shipper in me thinks that Ron'll do something noble and Hermione will be so upset that Harry will realize that what R/Hr have is real and him getting jealous (because in my theory, Harry will feel like he's beeing shoved aside for their romance) was stupid.

Comedy doesn't have to include death references though

I think doom is basically 'doomed' (LOL) for Harry.

I don't see him getting jealous, perse. Perhaps lonely because they have someone and he potentially has no-one but I think he'd be the happiest for them and the first to congratulate them when they get together.

I think I can handle harry dying but not ron. or hermione...or basically anyone else. If she kills off Ron, she had better have a real good reason or I 'd be dissapointed with the whole series.

I'm basing off how Harry will react off of two things... 1) is how annoyed Harry got when he learned that R/Hr spent all that time together without him in the beginning of OotP. 2) JKR said there were hints in PoA that happens in books 6 and 7 and one of the scenes that aren't in the books but in the movie is the hugging after Buckbeak's "execution" and Hermione grabs onto Ron and Harry grabs onto Hermione. I've just been thinking that Harry's going to have a hard time with it. I think he'd be happy for them, but still have a hard time with it. Like he'd believe the trio is spliting because of this and that he'd be losing Ron (and we know how important Ron is to Harry per Ron being the most important thing to him in the second task).

I think it's clear he'll have a hard time but I think it'll be more to do with dealing with being alone and with them spending more time together than actually jealousy - c'mon, that'd give the Hr/H's a lifeline!

He'll definitely be happy that they've stopped arguing and that they're happy together but at the same time he'll be missing out on what they have. But Idon't think it'll mean anything as bad as their friendship declining.

Maybe in foolishness he'll think he's losing Ron, but it'd be silly for him to think that forever, after all he's been through for him and with him. But I know what you mean, Harry can be selfish and sometimes gets the wrong end of the stick and ends up regretting it later, like when he thought Ron was being spiteful to him in GoF with no good reason.

Hah! Too true and we definitely don't need that.

But that's what I'm trying to say, not really jealousy, but more or less that he has a hard time dealing. Harry values that friendship a lot and he can be a bigger git than Percy was in OotP. lol So I think he'll have a hard time dealing, even though he'll truly be happy for them, but I think something huge might show him what an idiot he's being too.

:whistles: And that might push him further toward Luna LOL Nah, I see Ginny giving him a good rant about being happy for them and not self-pitying, she's more the type to do that. But the end of OotP definitely showed he's got more friends than just R/Hr.

That was a pretty cool interview. Almost all the answers would have been the same as mine.

Also, I think another reason why Rupert may not get as much attention is:

1. Harry is the main guy so he would get all the attention
2. Hermione is the main girl so she would get all that particular attention.

I truly believe Rupert gets as much attention as he wants. He doesn't seem to thrive on all the attention. He seems like a really down to earth guy and pretty laid back.

I really like Rupert <3

Also, about Ron only being right when he's joking, I have no idea who spread this rumour because anyone who has read the books without a bias would see that Ron is quite correct most of the time.
