Producer Simon Oakes spoke to MovieWeb at the San Diego Comic-Con last month about how Daniel Radcliffe had come about being cast in The Woman in Black, and how the Harry Potter star is up for the challenge to shoot the nine-week-long production this fall.
Quote:
You guys have Daniel Radcliffe locked for your next film. Can you talk about getting him and how you think it’s going to help his career, coming out of Harry Potter automatically, and what it’s going to do for Hammer Films and if maybe he could be a stable star for you guys?
Simon Oakes: Daniel is an incredibly smart guy. Like any young man whose been in films since he was 10 years of age, he’s got an incredible understanding of the vernacular of filmmaking. He read the script and 24 hours later he pretty much said he would do this next. It’s a huge challenge for him. He’s almost in every scene. It’s a nine week shoot. It doesn’t have the infrastructure around it like the Warners do with Potter, but I think he’s got the smarts, intelligence and insight to deliver very, very well. He’s a really, really smart kid. So, I’m very, very happy with it. And obviously very happy for Hammer that we’ve got somebody so recognized.

I swear, everyone went to COmic-Con but me that's cool to say about Dan. I wonder what the movies going to be about and why he'd just pop in after DH, doesn't Dan like holidays? The hardest working man in Hollywood?

That is such a short time frame. Going from nine months per film to nine weeks per film will definitely be a change for Dan. I think he's up to it. He has progressed so much as an actor, I think he's ready to take this on.
