In a rather amusing new interview, Helena Bonham Carter, who is Oscar-nominated for her work in The King's Speech, discussed how she had to balance the role of Queen Elizabeth with Bellatrix Lestrange, as she was filming the biopic on King George VI the same time as Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in fall of 2009.  Quote: You played the Queen at the same time as playing Bellatrix Lestrange in the final Harry Potter films, was it difficult to keep track of the two characters?
HBC: My son, who is only six, would come up to me and say, ‘So are you playing the witch or the Queen tomorrow Mummy?’ And I said, ‘Oh darling, that’s a very good question,’ as I would dread getting the playing of them both mixed up, as you can imagine!
How did you manage to remember which character to get into each day?
HBC: Well luckily, I had these big teeth for playing the Queen! So it was quite different gear I’d wear for each one! And also playing the witch was fairly exhausting because she’s always screaming like a hooligan so it was really nice to have the weekends off playing the Queen, as she was a bit more restrained.
The 83rd annual Academy Awards will take place this Sunday live at 8pm EST. We will have much more on Helena's Supporting Actress recognition later this weekend, as well as the nominations Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I received, for achievement in visual effects and production design.  | |
