Dan wasn't implying that the Arctic Monkeys aren't any good. In fact, he's expressed his love for them in an interview or two and has claimed to be one of their very first followers. I think what he means is that the politicians are trying too hard to claim the youth vote that stating, "I listen to the Arctic Monkeys," sets off the lie detectors and turns young voters off even more.
