Questions and rumours before the 5th book was out

Summary:

Article:

Remark on a tiny detail from the Order of the Phoenix about the thestrals. It might have been misunderstood but the book says that one can only see these creatures after having seen someone die. It describes how Harry is surprised by the fact that the thestrals are suddenly helping to transport the students to the castle, while he hadn't noticed any of it during the previous years he went to Hogwarts. Due to the tragic experience with Cedric Diggory in the fourth year, however, he's now able to see them. Or at least that's what I suppose is the whole idea.

But wasn't Harry's mother's death the first he'd ever seen? And after that he had seen Professor Quirrel die, hadn't he? Well, perhaps the Professor (being possessed by Voldemort and all) is not all that good an example, but Harry's presence at Lily Potter's death is undoubtedly mentioned in all of the books.

The reason why some witches and wizards become ghosts could be that they are murdered. Nearly Headless Nick was nearly beheaded, The Bloody Baron has blood stains indicating a possible murder, Moaning Myrtle was murdered by the Basilisk, it all fits. However, why would Lily and James not be ghosts, or maybe they just haven't shown themselves?
Have you ever wondered if any of the teachers are married or have kids? She said she would reveal that in a future book. Snape will fall in love in the 7th book. Neville gains immense powers

I beleive that witches and wizards become ghosts only because they made the choice before they died.

As for Lily's death and quirrels... He was a bady and quirrels was already half dead having voldermort in his head.

Snape's gonna fall in love?? Pass the bucket!

I alwas thought the Bloody Baron was the murderer. It was suggested that he murdered Peeves and that's why he only obeys him. Not sure if that's true though. I dont think they only become ghosts if they are murdered. NH Nick said you could choose whether you wanted to become one and those who were too frightened chose to stay behind.

Harry didn't see profesor Quirrell die, remember Quirrell was trying to kill Harry, and then Harry passed out. Later Dumbledore told him Quirrell had died when Voldemort abandoned his body.
In the movie Harry saw profesor Quirrell die, but not in the book.

the whole thing about the thesralts is that Harry couldn't possible remember Lilly's death, with Cedric, Harry saw the death and remember it.

About the ghosts, if your one who is afrad of death who become a ghost, but if your aren't afarid of death and your willing to give your life to something or someone, or figth for something then you don't become a ghost.
Oh yeah, I don't thnik bellatrix killed Sirius, I think it was that Sirius tripped and fell in the veil .Because I think the veil is the gateway between the living and the dead.

ah! excellent topics, In no doubt they have been debated before, but yes" I think the veil is the gateway between the living and the dead" is true. thestrals one of the most amazing things in book five. In fact probably one of my favorites. I want to know more on how Luna Lovegood can see them too. that will be interesting. the ghost issue is something still unexplained I think will have to look into in detail. I dont think there was anything behind the mirror of erised as it was a "mirror" and showed what u desired but that was it.( besides driving men back to it)
Yes,I wonder what teachers lifes are like away from hogwarts, as we know somewhat of the weasly's is like. but on the comment of snape; Where did u hear that he will fall in Love!? lol not a making fun just curious, sounds very...interesting. I hope to GD it's not Mcgonagall or Any Staff!! that would be will..thats just my view..interesting. As snape seems to have no or any other staff seem to pay much attention to each other besides of when umbridge came and caused havoc.

I can't wait to know more about Luna Lovegood. You can already tell that she is gonig to become more intresting as time goes on.
That Sape love thing is really intresting and I've never heard that before. I would also like to know more about the teachers on a personal level.
I want to know more about James and Lily. In Snapes worst memory ( i know it was their 5th year but still!) James and Sirius( leaning more toward Sirus) were kindy of jerks. I know that James and Lily fell in love 7th year so I kind of want to know why she changed her mind.
Also, is that really true about Neville?

Well about Luna she said she saw her mother die! But I haven't been that interested in her... thats just me though! And the teachers I always assumed they didn't have a life outside of Hogwarts knowing that they are there all the time, even on holidays. And about Harry and the thesralts I thought the same thing when I read the book but maybe he didn't actully see his mothers death he could of looked the other way been crying anything we don't really know! I believe the veil thing and Sirius but I do want to know more about it! Neville with powers, HUMM! I think Neville will be the one to kill voldemort and that will kill Harry as well since they are connected and that Trelawney vision was really about Neville. It would be a good twist! I like Neville anyways! And Snape in love, not sure about that I believe what someone above me said...he will die!

Well...tsk tsk tsk. Lets see here. What to rant on first. Well, first of all, Snape falling in love? Its possible, but unless that came from Rowlings mouth i wont believe it. Its not in his character to SHOW love, or emotion. I mean, he might be MARRIED for all we know, but he keeps that to himself. [even though i think its a bit obvious that hes not married or anything]
As for Ghosts, i think there was something mentioned somwhere about having a strong will or being strongly connected to the world of the living that makes you a ghost. Didn't NHnick say somethign about he really doesnt know what happened. Perhaps ghosts are the dead spirits that were confussed, lost their way...or maybe they secretly dont want to leave the world of the living. I think Rowling will explain it more in upcoming books. Anyway, thats my say of the topic.

I don't think we will see Snape in love or anything personal about any of the teachers, since the books are told from Harry's point of view. I want to know about the kids, i don't care much about what the adults do. And it seems the books are told from the students perspective, i would feel robed if there was time wasted on telling stories about the teachers while there could be interesting things going on with Harry and the gang.

Thaz not what I ment! almost but not quite. A NEW fe-male teacher will be in the 6th or 7th. I could be wrong people! I mean, Snape could USE some calming-down on being so stressed out and knocking out Harry Potter™ in the 5th year. I mean it was just one little scene with Lily,James,Snape and other people

cuz i'm pretty sure it said that the horselesss coaches were there waiting
it doesent make sense

It's not that you see someone die, but it is that you experience death, that makes you available to see a Thestral.

Well, maybe he didn't pay much attention, or maybe he wasn't attacked by Dementors. Maybe they caused such a reaction.

I friend and I were joking around awhile back, and tried to imagine Snape, weak in the knees with little hearts in his eyes, over Trelawney! Of course we were joking around.
