| | |  Professor Sprout cut from OotP film
The Sun is reporting that Miriam Margoyles has told them that her character, Professor Sprout, herbology teacher, has been cut from the script for the fifth film 'Order of the Phoenix'. Quote:
The award-winning actress said: "I am not making the fifth Harry Potter. They made a great mistake and cut my character."
This implies that the script is already under way which might make sense since the new screenwriter Michael Goldenberg was recently announced.

^agrees with Sniv, it's true she doesn't add a dicky bird. Sometimes i would hate to have to David Haymans job, imagine if he actually read some of the stuff we say indirectly about him when they cut stuff and we don't like it!

what is the big deal.. i cant even remember he doing anything in OOTP at all.. it isnt a big deal she wasnt in POA nor really PS but she did have a slightly big part in COS but it isnt a huge loss.

but there is no need for her! it is like professor Flitwick in POA i mean he just conducted a choir for something to do. they shouldnt have to but they also shouldnt have to make up a story line for her just to keep her in the film. i mean look at the whole Dursleys not on GOF thing.. id rather they kept them in than write a bit for Professor Sprout who isnt even in the book other than a fleeting passing.

yeah that sucks, but she's not really vital to the plot and there aren't any major scenes done in herbology, so i'd rather them cut that than something else that is important

They could have gave her one or two lines atleast. Well...this really sucks. She was an excellent herbology teacher, I always thought.

She could've sat at the staff table like karen_ginger said earlier. I would've..it's a big deal to work on any movie, and especially Harry Potter because it isn't just any movie.

Yes, I too would like to of seen her even as a background character, sort of adds to the authentisity of the stories if the teaching cast remains the same. But I suppose she is an excellent actress and can't waste her time with background roles, even if she enjoys doing it.
I have seen her in several interviews and I don't think that comment is at all bitter, she has a very dry sense of humour that I love.
