Ha! Not one bit surprised that Finding Nemo was #1 as the film "took place" in and around Sydney.

i guess they're talking about individual DVD titles, since i'd expected those with the box sets to have done much better (Star Wars, LOTR, The Matrix, Pirates...)

I am assuming Nemo is as inbred for Australian children as HP maybe for English kids (I cannot say "and American kids" because we still have too many right wing Christian groups that actually have people convince that HP will make you a witch or Satan worshipper if you watch or read it..). With all the references in Nemo to Australia, and it WAS a great movie....I can see why it topped their lists. I bet LOTR would top a New Zealand list because it was filmed in that country.

Well, isn't Finding Nemo in Australia? I think that's sort of cute. Lol. How it's the number one on this list for Australians. Ha.

Anyway, congrats to Dan! Woo!

Awesome!! (I'm in Australia too and I have those HP movies lol). Finding Nemo is cute, its was popular for younger kids when it came out. Yes there is also some conservative views about HP here too (among more extreme Christian groups). Each to their own I say, but I think Harry Potter (as a fantasy) has brought more joy to children and increased their interest in reading which is a great thing.

YAY! Hmm, I didn't like PoA movie that much, but a lot of people I know that didn't read the books love PoA, so I guess Australians like it too!

Yes, we love (heavy dose of sarcasm) our conservative Christian groups here. Many, not all, are pretty ignorant, not well read, and have the IQ of a pet rock....oops..aimed too low there. There was a particularly outspoken hick of a woman from Georgia who pursued getting HP books taken out of schools! Lovely! She gave all of us southerners a bad name.....
