| | | Pottering Around Scotland - Pottering Around Scotland Summary:
5 Night Stay Going To All The Locations From the HP Movies Article:
Article from yesterday's Sunday Post newspaper. Quote: Tourism bosses hope Harry potter can work his magic on holidaymakers coming to Scotland. visitscotland have had enormous interest from Hogwarts fans around the world who want to visit the locations used in the three blockbuster films.
So they’ve introduced a travel package especially for them.
Pottering Around Scotland includes a trip on the Jacobite steam train along the West Highland Line. The Hogwarts Express is seen crossing the Glennfinnan Viaduct in the first film and Ron and Harry’s flying car chases the train in The Chamber Of Secrets.
There is also a trip to Glencoe, where footage for the latest movie was shot.
But it is hopped the five-night tour will entice fans to come to Scotland to visit some of our other well-known sites, too.
As well as following in the footsteps of Hagrid and Harry, visitors on the tour will visit Edinburgh and Loch Ness, And tourism officials hope the packages will be snapped up as fast as a Golden Snitch.
A spokeswoman for visitscotland said, “We get a lot of inquires from Harry potter Fans asking about where the locations are.
Now people can visit them, as well as Edinburgh, where JK Rowling wrote the early books.”
Tourism bosses see the use of Scotland for filming as an important part of attracting visitors and hope it’s something they can build on.
The spokeswoman added, “There’s an expectation that as more Harry potter films and books are launched it will provide us with more opportunities, if Scotland is used for filming in the future, of course.” Packages for Pottering Around Scotland can be bought until October 31st by phoning 0845 2255121.

Its a wonderful idea for people who have loads of money! LOL
I would love to visit Scotland but I can't help but feel these people are in it for a quick buck by exploiting Harry Potter further. I wonder what JK thinks of all this - her idea alone has made so many people rich it's unreal.
But I'm all for the Scotland trip, I would love to go - oneday...
I was looking at flight prices today actually Karen, they are about £120 return from Southampton to Edinburgh which isn't too bad considering that includes taxes... So I would say do it alone and plan your own trips to the locations, as these packages are way too steep!

This is sooo scary, because I'm in the UK right now. London to be specific. Last weekend I was in Edinburgh and visited some of the sites from Harry Potter there!! Very exciting. It is worth seeing.
I saw some sites in London as well, like platform 9 and 3/4, for which they really have a sign...I found that funny...

You are all probably going to bash me around the head for saying this, but even when you live in the UK, you don't tend to do much about visiting the HP sites. I love HP (Obviously) but I haven't had the chance to visit any filming locations, maybe it's laziness, or maybe its the fact it costs money and I work full time so I can't always get away to do such things. But honestly, if you come to the UK and manage to do visit the sights, than you have probaby done more than the average British fans themselves! I am speaking for myself, but I have many friends who are fans over here and none of them have done any such thing either.... :/
