| | |  Potter Works His Magic on Book Publishers
According to a new report by U.S Publishers there was a dramatic increse of $34.6 billion in book revenue, this was up 5.9% from previoius years. The main contributors to this list where school text books, books by religious leaders and Harry Potter.
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, which was released last July, had a dramatic effect on the children's book sector. An article in the New York Times reports, Quote:
Mr. Greco said that the children's book segment was driven largely by the publication last year of the sixth volume in the Harry Potter series, "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," which, according to its publisher, Scholastic, sold 11 million copies in the United States during its first nine weeks in bookstores alone.

And growth in children's books is expected to decline sharply in 2007, when no Harry Potter book is currently scheduled for publication. In that year, the study projects only a 1.8 percent growth in revenues. "It's a boom and bust category," Mr. Greco said.
Hopefully this opens the door for authors who focus on children's books to get their works published. With the release of the seventh and final chapter of the Harry Potter series on the horizon, hopefully Potter fans stick around to spread their interest into other book series.

The Harry Potter series has hepled me through so much in my young life ever since I had first discovered wth magical world in second grade, some six years ago.
It makes me happy to see that the books are giving so much back to other young readers such as myself. I can't wait until July 7, 2007 (when Book VII is supposedly set to hit shelves) and July 13, 2007. It'll be the best summer ever!
