Paul Kieve, an illusionist who is responsible for the magic effects in the Harry Potter blockbuster, The Prisoner of Azkaban, is behind the amazing special effects in new Midlands show, The Witches based on a novel by Roald Dahl. Quote:
He is currently developing special effects for the planned musical of The Lord of the Rings.
David Wood has adapted Roald Dahl’s award-winning tale for the stage. The Christmas special revolves around a fiendish plot by wicked witches to get rid of all of the children in England by poisoning their sweets and transforming them all into mice.

ooooooooooo. i remember that movie! i must read it tomorrow... i remembered watching the 1st movie ever made from the book, Witches. it looked scary to me, cause i watched it when i was small. the effects then was...not bad actually  believable

Wow!! You completely lost me after you said Midlands - home!!!!!! (sorry - just really looking forward to going home!)
But anyway, yeah I heard about the LoTR musical a while back... Love Witches though - good 'ole Roald Dahl!

Lord of the rings musical? Well I suppose it could work, I don't see why not, but the only problem with it being on stage is the size differences between the different characters.
The witches, I think I read the book when I was a kid and just about remember the TV movie with that woman out of the 'Adams Family' film (can't remember her name) playing the little boys Aunt. that should be quite good too.

I can see how they'd do LoTR after all they did the Hobbit on stage - not quite as complicated admittedly but it was awesome!

Witches I one of my favorite stories and Movies If you havent seen or read it , try it, never hurts  In the film there is a woman who plays one of the Evil witches( aka-Beatrice? nora connolly), who tries to coerce the young lead boy(Luke) out of a tree with gifts like candy..and a snake! She Is my absolute Ideal vote for Deatheater Bellatrix Lestrange Black.
