Twins who starred in the Harry Potter block-busters are being lined up to trigger Nuneaton's countdown to Christmas next week.

James and Oliver Phelps - who play Fred and George Weasley in the Warner Brothers movies - have agreed to switch on Nuneaton's festive lights on Friday, November 14.

The theme of the town's light show this year will be The Magic of Christmas - and the borough council says it is fitting that a special pair of "magical" twins will be joining in the fun.

Frank Whiting, chairman of the town centres partnership board in Nuneaton and Bed-worth, said: "The Christmas lights switch-on event has always been a popular night in Nuneaton town centre.

"This year, James and Oliver will be helping to make the Magic of Christmas a night to remember."

Oliver Phelps, who plays George Weasley in the films, said he was delighted to be asked to help out.

He said: "Both James and I are really excited to be invited to help switch on the lights this year in Nuneaton town centre.

"With the Magic of Christmas, we hope that we can join in with the celebrations and give the town centre a night to remember. We may even have a surprise or two in store for visitors to the town centre during the night."

He said they would be parking their broomsticks, suspending a Quidditch practice match, and leaving their screen father's Ford Anglia parked safely at home to join in the Nuneaton festivities.

The pair will be visiting shops in the town centre during the day as well as signing autographs during the evening.

At 7pm, they will join the Mayor and Mayoress of Nuneaton and Bedworth, Ian and Rachel Lloyd, to switch on the lights for the borough's holiday season.

There will be a spectacular fireworks finale to wind up the event at 7.45pm.

hahaha! Same here, I live in a small boring town in new england, but we do have a huge tree on the common with lights!

That sounds cool! At first I thought that they were talking about twins who might be playing Parvati and Padma (in the 3rd one), i forgot about fred and george!
