| | | Potter: Third best book of all time
A survey conducted by ' Stuff' has revealed that the Potter series are the third best books of all time.
They were beaten by 'Lord of the Rings', which came first and 'Pride & Prejudice' by Jane Austen, which came second.
Potter beat popular titles such as 'The Da Vinci Code' & 'To Kill A Mockingbird'.
It seems, however, that Harry Potter was lucky to get third place at all! Apparently a considerable amount of voters failed to follow the rules properly! Quote:
In our rules we asked people to name particular books instead of citing a whole series. Yet sitting in third place is "Harry Potter Series". What happened?
Well, some people followed our instruction, but many just wrote "Harry Potter", meaning the whole shebang. Disqualifying these well-intentioned votes seemed mean-spirited.

lol..sounds like what i would vote for. "the entire harry potter series" and wow! they beat the 'Da Vinci Code' that book is awesome! but in our own little SS wrld we all know that HP is the best of all time..Pride n Prejudice was a laugh for me..dunno bout the rest of you. and even though LoTR is a fantastic movie trilogy, the books are too dry...

It's a timeless classic (I'm sure HP will be a classic too though). But I'm a bit biased as a regency re-enactor.

*Claps for JK and Harry* Yay! I've never read Pride and Prejudice; it's sitting on my bookshelf. I didn't like the LOTR books, though, they're just not my cup of tea.

Wow, if people voting for Harry Potter can't read the rules, what does that say about us fans...? -Sigh-
Congrats to HP though, HP is an awesome book/series

what a great honour, I'm sure. But they deserve it. The series is amazing. And to have CHILDRENS books be up there with very lengthy adult books is...wow. I think JKR should be extremely honoured. I would be.

Awesome! Altough it would be a million times cooler if Harry Potter is #1! Oh well it is in my heart. Maybe it will be #1 when the series is done? I hope so!

I agree. What does it say about us fans that we didn't read the rules? But still, very cool.

wow, that's really cool!!!! I haven't read the other two books (yes I HAVE tried!!), so I'm glad I know the third place one I love the DaVinci Code very good for those who haven't read it. Oh and I hate To Kill a Mockingbird. Such a boring book. . . and movie, in fact

Wasn't LOTR considered a series because it was printed in 3 installments!? Why should HP not be included, since from the beginning she said there would be 7, one for each year of school?!
Anyway!! Kudos to JKR!!! She deserves it, and I think her books do satisfy a wider range of readers than the others by far.

Does everyone consider Harry Potter a kid's book? I wouldn't really put it there.

I dont consider it that but more kids do read the book rather than adults.
