| | | Potter stars get arty for Tibet Emma Thompson (Professor Trelawney) and Alan Rickman (Snape) have both created pieces of artwork to be auctioned off in aid of the ' Free Tibet' Organisation.
Emma Thompson collaborated with her daughter, Gaia, to produce this piece of work. Quote:
This piece has inspired us to create a montage of children's pictures and messages of hope for the Panchen Lama, which can be seen at the exhibition in Foyles Gallery from March 10th.
Quote:
Emma champions a number of worthwhile causes, including Free Tibet Campaign and we are extremely grateful for her ongoing support. Special thanks also to Gaia for her inspiration.
Alan Rickman's piece of art can be viewed here. Quote:
Alan's piece shows the eyes of the Panchen Lama (taken from the only photograph in existence of the boy, taken shortly before his abduction in 1995), peeping out from a crack in the paper.
Quote:
Alan has regularly shown his support for Free Tibet Campaign in the past, and we are extremely grateful for this thoughtful, signed work, donated and created specifically for the auction.
You can view all the art first-hand during the week preceeding the auction. All pieces are being displayed in a free public exhibition at Foyles Gallery between 10 March and 17 March (Monday to Saturday 9.30am - 9.00pm, Sunday 11.00am - 5.00pm).
The auction is being held on Thursday 17 March in Foyles Gallery, 2nd Floor, Foyles Bookshop, 113-119 Charing Cross Road, London WC2. The evening starts at 6.00pm with a drinks reception and guest speakers.
The auction begins at 7.00pm. Attendance for the evening is free, but places are limited.
Please call 020 7324 4610 or email artauction@freetibet.org to reserve your seats.
Thanks to *Snivellus* for the tip! |

It's great to see celebrities involved in world issues, and supporting a great cause. It shows lets viewers see they are more than just the characters they portray on screen

Wow! Rickman's piece is so great! I'd pay big bucks for that, if I could afford to!

I like Emma's because it includes children's art, and Alan's is awesome. Thanks for that.

I knew Alan Rickman went into graphic design school but...wow...I really like his art. There's just something about eyes, and he captured them beautifully.

Emma Thompson and Alan Rickman have always seemed to be together plus Hugh Grant. They have done alot of films together, but Alan Rickman is very talented. The work says alot for freedom.
