| | | Potter stars collaborate for 'Hitchhiker'
Two Potter stars, Warwick Davis (Flitwick) and Alan Rickman (Snape) are collaborating to bring one character, Marvin, to the silver screen for ' The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy', according to Sci Fi Wire. Warwick plays the character while Alan provides the voice. Quote:
"I think I would have been disappointed being dubbed by another actor, but Alan is so unique, his voice is so unique. Nobody has a voice quite like Alan's, and I'm friends with him anyway from working on Harry Potter. When he was asked to do it he checked with me. 'Is this cool? Do you mind if I do this?' I said, 'No, no, it's great. I feel kind of honored that you're collaborating with me and that we're bringing this character to the screen together.'"

I just read the books this month becuase I had heard so much about the movie. I'd highly recommend them-- very smart, British comedy. Alan will be the perfect voice for Marvin (who is a chronically depressed, super-genius robot)! Can't wait to see it!!

I love Alan Rickman! I was going to see the movie anyways, so that'll be a bonus.

Although I think both Warwick and Alan are fantastic, I'm actually a little disappointed with the casting choice. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy has also been a radio serial and TV series before now, though both were around so long ago that I only discovered this through my dad. Luckily, he taped the TV version so I could see it, and although their Marvin was VERY low budget, the guy doing the voice was perfect. http://sfon.tv/Television/H/HHGG/
On the other hand, it's fun to poke Marvin on the website and make him say "Stop that!"

This is one of my favorite books! I've read it three times and I can't wait for a new movie. The older movie was very technelogically challenged. I can't wait its just so exciting when I see the trailers for it too! AAAAAAAAAh!

Some-one hand the little man a tissue and say bless you.
I've seen the trailer for it and Alan's vioce is just so perfect for the robot character. Kinda reminds me of that dog from the cartton series of The Family Guy.
Sarcasm and the bristish accent just bode so well together!

*squee!*
The books are so awesome, and when I heard ALAN RICKMAN was doing the VOICE of Marvin, I totally freaked out. His voice is the perfect voice for ANYTHING. I've noticed a while ago, that most of Alan's movies are with actors/actresses that's he's previously worked with. For Example: Mos Def in "Hitchikers Guide To The Galaxy" played alongside Alan in "Something The Lord Made" And Sam Rockwell in the same movie played alongside him in "Galaxy Quest", and Emma Thompson played alongside Alan in "Sense and Sensibility" (Not to mention the guy who plays Fudge), "Love, Actually", "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban", and was the protagonist in Alan's directorial debut "The Winter's Guest" That's just to name a few. Ok, I'm rambling now, goodbye! Lol

From the trailers, I can safely say that Marvin is NOTHING like what I imagined. However, Alan Rickman is perfect! The quote about the computer hating him ... I was rolling on the floor.
It's a fans dream come true! The only thing better than having rickman play Marvin would be for Dan to play a Hobbit ...
