| | | Potter star to replace Narnia actor?
Apparently Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy) and Ralph Fiennes (Voldemort) have both auditioned for the part of Aslan in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
It was announced this weekend that Brian Cox, the actor who was originally going to voice the character, could no longer fulfill his role as he lost some weight and his voice has changed.
No choice has been made yet for a replacement and the project is already in post-production.
Other actors who auditioned for the part include Sean Bean and Sir Ian McKellen. Dawn French (the fat lady in PoA) will also appear in the Narnia film, as the voice of Mrs Beaver.

I liked Brian Cox in Xmen 2. Did they say whether his voice had changed because he lost weight? that's weird. good for him on losing the weight though.
i'm reading the Narnia books now, so i'm undecided as to who would be better out of Fiennes or Isaacs

The Narnia books were first fantastic books I`ve read. I was five. And this determins my interest to the movie, and this is the first time I`m hearing that it`ll be (the movie).

Coolness! I read the Chronicles of Narnia again this year (even though I'm Eighteen) and once again it was an enchanting adventure with biblical allusions. Can't wait for the new movies. No offense to the BBC ones from awhile back that had Warwick Davis as Reepacheep.

Aslan should have a booming voice and neither Alan Rickman or Ralph Fiennes has that
Alan Rickman wasn't a real candidate for the part. To me, Aslan was booming when it was necessary but he was also calm, with subtle tones.

I remember seeing a cartoon version of this a long long time ago. I can easily imagine Jason's voice behind Aslan more so than Ralph's, though I'm sure they'll both do well enough. | |

That'd be a first! But no, Alan can do seductive/attractive/sensual/despressive just not wise.
Having said that, he is the reason I'm going to see HHGTTG.

Having said that, he is the reason I'm going to see HHGTTG. Snape is wise ... Smartest wizard in the world, if you ask me ... So youīre telling me itīs Alanīs fault, he seems to be made into a stupid clown in PoA I thought I could blame it on that director ...
Reason Iīll probably go and see Hitchikerīs guide is 42 ... sorry, I mean the books themselves
And back to Narnia. I donīt care who voices Aslan, as long as he sounds like Aslan. Tom Waits or Leonard Cohen maybe? Not really, I think. Someone with a low voice anyway, deep voice. Maybe a person whose voice I have never heard ... So I guess Fiennes would be better, as Iīm not sure whether I have heard his voice or not. But as he is going to play Voldemort ... So anti-Aslan ...

As much as I enjoy the two HP actors, I fell Sir Ian would be a best voice. Jeremy Irons is another voice I think would work. I've hear a very unique voice when I thought of Aslan's voice.
