Article:

Potter and the PoA works their magic over the UK

CBBC Newsround reports that British HP fans have spent a whopping £23.8million on Prisoner Of Azkaban over the film's opening weekend.
To read more, see the article at the CBBC.

Quote:
UK movie-goers spent a whopping £23.8million on Prisoner Of Azkaban over the film's opening weekend.

It beat a record previously held by film two, Chamber Of Secrets. Before that, the record belonged to the first Potter film - Philosopher's Stone.

The nearest rival to the three Potter films is Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King, which managed £15 million over its opening weekend.

Quote:
Azkaban's success in the UK follows bumper sales for the film in the US, where fans spent £50. 21million on tickets in its first three days.

That's more than for either of the first two films, and the third biggest opening weekend ever in the US, behind Shrek 2 and the first Spider-Man film.

It's the same thing in Chamber of Secrets, they're not allowed to use magic outside of school, yet Hermione fixes Harry's glasses by magic in Diagon Alley.

I guess they didnt care if it was a mistake in the third film, so they put it in anyways and in the chamber of secrets, i think hermione got away with doing magic in diagon alley b/c there are no muggles around.. :/

Dan just looks Hotter and hotter espically when Lupin start talking about his parent and all those nice thing Dan smiles * soooooo cute I want to cry and give Dan a hag so badly* I really like the movie! It was great can't ask for better, even tough they did cut a some sence out. Anyway I can't wait for the next one It going to be long, oh...well... if only I can see Dan in person * I know it would never happen * SNIFF* I really want to see him.

He was doing his homework therefore I think it was allowed.

Jo Rowling explained this one, she said they can use magic in the wizarding community. The no underage wizardry law is in place for muggle protection and to stop them from being revealed to the muggle community. Which is why it was also ok for Harry to practice magic in his room as no muggle witnessed it therefore he did not risk the exposure of the wizarding kind.
