| | | It's the same thing in Chamber of Secrets, they're not allowed to use magic outside of school, yet Hermione fixes Harry's glasses by magic in Diagon Alley. | |

Quote: | It's the same thing in Chamber of Secrets, they're not allowed to use magic outside of school, yet Hermione fixes Harry's glasses by magic in Diagon Alley. | Jo Rowling explained this one, she said they can use magic in the wizarding community. The no underage wizardry law is in place for muggle protection and to stop them from being revealed to the muggle community. Which is why it was also ok for Harry to practice magic in his room as no muggle witnessed it therefore he did not risk the exposure of the wizarding kind. |
