| | |  Potter cast participate in play for the Queen
Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, Julie Walters and Matthew Lewis have all contributed to a play called The Queen's Handbag in celebration of the Queen's 80th birthday. The Telegraph has the following details about the performance. Quote:
The drama, by children's author David Wood with actor and author Julian Fellowes as executive script writer and Sir Trevor Nunn as stage director, will star Martin Clunes as Pc Plod who is called in to investigate the crime.
As he follows the trail he encounters Jonathan Ross, playing Sir Topham Hat, the Fat Controller from Thomas the Tank Engine, Julie Walters as the Queen's maid, Mary, and Jerry Hall playing the Queen of the Pirates.
The story picks up from Roald Dahl's BFG - Big Friendly Giant - which when published 20 years ago left Sophie and the giant happily ensconced in the Queen's grounds having asked for Her Majesty's help in capturing other giants who were wreaking havoc across the globe.
One scene will star four of the leading characters from the Harry Potter films - Daniel Radcliffe (Harry), Emma Watson (Hermione) Rupert Grint (Ron) and Matthew Lewis (Neville) - with the comedian Harry Hill playing Hogwart's owl keeper. JK Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter books, will also attend.
| The play will be broadcast on BBC1 on June 25th from 6PM, with J.K.Rowling's reading from ' Half-Blood Prince' taking place before that at 5:30PM.
However the segment featuring the young Potter actors has been pre-recorded. It is not clear who exactly will be attending the actual party at Buckingham Palace but what we do know is this; J.K.Rowling and Julie Walters will be present, however Dan Radcliffe will not as he will be abroad on a well-deserved holiday. We'll try and find out whether Rupert, Emma or Matthew will be attending party too.  | |

That is so awesome. Suprisingly enough The BFG was the very book that came to my mind when I read this news. I'm sure soem clips will be up soon enough. *ish on the watch* And I can already bet that play will do justice to the Queen.  *secretly wants to go*

I'm real excited about the play. It'll be neat to see a sort of stage production, even if it was previously recorded and probably won't have the same emphasis as before.
It'd be cool if Rupert and Emma attended despite Dan not being there. Give that literary feel to it. | |
