The Australian has an interesting article detailing the effect Potter has had on prisoners in Guantanamo Bay. Quote: |

ha ha ha!  for some reason i find that extremely funny... hee hee, everyone like Harry Potter! sorry, mental image of extemely muscular, ugly, hairy, stupid-looking (see what movies have done to my mind?) prisoner sitting on a cot in a jail cell hunched over a Harry Potter book...lol  | |

I wonder if there's any possibility whatsoever some self-righteous nut would look at this article and say that the Harry Potter series appeals to convicts because of it's morally suspect nature or some such nonsense. Maybe make a correlation between the series and and people who've done evil in this world.

Go inmates!!! Good for them for wanting to read the best books! I agree in a way about the Sirius in prison factor, but it's also great escapism. I can't say I blame them for wanting to "get away" for a little while. (even if they deserve time) | |
