| | | Posh Spice wanted to name third child after Harry Potter character
Posh Spice, aka Victoria Beckham, ex spice girl, is expecting her third child with David Beckham.
After deliberating over baby names, Victoria decided she liked the name 'Luna' - possibly inspired by the fifth Harry Potter novel, Order of the Phoenix, in which a new character, Luna Lovegood, features. If David and Victoria Beckham ever have a baby girl, she could share her name with a major Potter character. Quote:
"I love the word luna. I know it's a girl's name, so maybe for the next baby," Posh told a Spanish magazine.
Luna Lovegood was one of the new characters introduced by JK Rowling in Order Of The Phoenix. Luna is the Spanish word for moon.

Ha ha ha thats quite funny. She comes up with some weird names. (no offence to anyone who has the same name). But i dont see anything wrong with Luna.
And Gwyneth (sp??) naming her daugter Apple, was sweet, but weird!

Luna is quite a popular name here, Juanes (a singer-very popular in latinamerica) named his little girl Luna, everybody is using it, naming their baby girls Luna, their dogs, their hamsters, their fish, etc... lol. In my bulding there are three dogs and a girl named Luna (poor girl) personally i'm against using people's names for pets, but in this case people really don't know which came first :shakes head: Oh, and i really love that name for a girl btw.

JKR called her Luna because shes a raving lunatic for God's sake! Could you imagine it though, 'Luna Beckham', "sorry what was that Looney beckham? Which one has lost the plot?!"
Seriously, for the sake of her childs happiness! And it couldnt possibly from the HP books, i mean CAN she read?!

I don't really care for Victoria Beckham or this alleged cry for attention, but I do care about giving children names that have meaning. What I mean to say is, even if Luna sounds 'out there' and absolutely crazy, in my mind it'll remind me of Luna Lovegood, my favourite character in OoTP. To me she represents faith, endurance, loyalty... Sure, she has some pretty weird beliefs, but she isn't unlike anyone else who believes that ghosts, poltergeists, the Loch Ness monster, aliens, or (dare I say it) any sort of Supreme Being(s) exist. Unfortunately, I'd be the only person to make this connection.
I say let her name the kid Luna. She can do far, far worse. (check out the link.) http://www.notwithoutmyhandbag.com/babynames/

Bob Geldof has a daughter named Fifi Trixiebelle.
Bruce Willis and Demi Moore's daughters are Rumer, Scout, and Tallullah.
Robby Benson's daughter is Lyric, which is actually kinda pretty.
Nicolette Larson (RIP) called her poor daughter Elsie Mae.
80's punker Nina Hagen had a daughter named Cosma Shiva (or Cosma Diva, according to some reports).
China Kantner (daughter of Grace Slick and Paul Kantner of Jefferson Airplane) was originally named god, with a small "g".
Compared to these, Luna is perfectly normal. Celebrities have a history of giving their kids unusual names.
(And Zowie Bowie's name was indeed changed, but I don't remember what it was changed to.)
