| | | Pocket Gamer previews Half-Blood Prince on Nintendo DS Pocket Gamer has a new preview of the Half-Blood Prince video game on the Nintendo DS. Elements detailed include mini-games, duelling and potion-making. Quote:
This DS iteration promises to follow the line of the upcoming film, but all we witnessed was a collection of magically-themed tiddlywinks and airborne football.
Quote:
Although the lot is decent enough, it just doesn't look to satisfy our desire for a true Harry Potter experience. Seeing as how the PSP version will likely mirror the console releases, we're staking our hopes on that version given the figurative lack of magic in this one.
There is still no release date for the sixth video game.
Thanks to Zyra for the tip! |

Well, I certainly figured that...I would not waste my money on a DS version of Harry Potter, I will stick to the stuff that DS does best for kids.

Well, seeing as we only have a DS and Gamecube in this house and I doubt they're making it for Gamecube, I suppose I'll have to be happy with the DS version. At least until I can afford a Wii. *sigh*
I'm still hoping they're keeping the release date for November. What are the chances of that?

I hope they stick to the release date too. It would be really bad if they didn't

I never really liked those versions of the Potter games. I normally stuck with the PC or PlayStation versions.

i do agree about not liking the ds versions. they are so lain and boring really. they don't go into detail and pretty much stick to the point and that's all. But i hope they give us the release date soon.

At one point in time I used to play the handhelds. I hope that for the sake of the fans they will have a reasonable release date...whatever reasonable may be.

guys if you want to get a worthy handheld that can do a bit more than just game, get a PSP. best device i own ever! it can game, play music, play movies, surf the net, make calls via skype-- and that's just for the non-hacked version. my hacked version can pretty much do what a PDA brags it can do except get services from cellphone carriers (because it doesnt have anything to place a SIM card in).
i played the OOTP game on my PSP and the quality is just as good as a Playstation 2. for all the touchscreen thing the DS brags about, its got nothing compared to what a PSP can really do in terms of muti-function capabilities.

I will be getting it for my Wii, as previously and prolly for my psp as well, but i wouldn't bother for DS, unless the are really imaginative, the game play is very limiting on that lovely little gadget.

Yeah, people, watch out when you buy this.
I bought OotP for 35$ and it was basically fetch quests, no challenge whatsoever. And I unhappily completed the game in 8 hours.
And from the looks of that review, it hasn't changed in the slightest.
I don't know if I'll be able to hold back from buying HBP though...
I'm thinking I'll rent it instead.
I should stick to the mario games on handheld devices.

Yes, you are absolutely correct about the PSP....the only problem with a PSP is the cost (in my case, times two kids) because a seven year old and a nine year old really dont need a handheld that expensive. My seven year old dropped her DS in a puddle and beats the daylights out of it when she just has a case of butter fingers and drops it....I would have a heart attack if she did that w/ a PSP!!! Maybe some parents can blow that kind of cash on little kids, but mine will even freely admit...no way mom, I may, uh, drop it and, like, break it....So when they are older, I will get them one each. But I totally agree w/ you about OOTP on PSP...it completely rocks..!
